Having qualified for the Champions League next season, Liverpool have made some decent additions to their squad so far this summer but Jürgen Klopp does not seem too happy with the options at his disposal and continues to be linked with some of the brightest stars in world football at the moment.
They have added Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke to an already exciting attack at Anfield but Klopp is reportedly still looking to bolster his attacking options and is now yet again linked with a move for Brazil sensation Gabriel Barbosa.
Transfer story
The 20-year old Brazilian, who was linked with a move to Liverpool extensively in the last two transfer windows, joined Inter Milan in a sensational deal but he failed to establish himself in the first team at the San Siro, making just nine Serie A appearances all season. He managed just one goal across all competitions last season, and the Italian outfit are now ready to offload him on a loan this summer.
English clubs Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Everton are all linked with a move for the 20-year old and it is understood that Klopp is a huge admirer of the youngster and wants him to land at Anfield and not play for his rivals next season.
Gabriel Barbosa and his potential
With 56 goals in 154 appearances as a teenager in the Brazilian top flight league for Santos, Barbosa is an extremely talented winger who can also play as a central striker. Known for his exceptional abilities with the ball at his feet, the 20-year old is adept at creating chances for his side, with defence splitting through balls, and in the past, has shown that he can break even the best defences in Europe.
He is also an excellent finisher, strong in the air and is a serious threat with his ability to go past a man with ease. He loves to have the ball at his feet and dictate play, while his reflexes, to find space in dangerous areas, make him a hard man to play against.
At 20, he already has four international appearances for the Brazil national side but is not established at the highest level yet. But at his age, he is only going to get better and is a star for the future.
Will he fit in at Liverpool?
However, at Anfield as well, he will find first team chances hard to come by in any of the positions in attack. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are expected to play on the flanks and ‘Gabigol’ as he is called, could be the first choice backup for either star.
He can also play a central role under Jürgen Klopp, who loves to use a false-9 in his attack and his work rate will only impress the German much more. He is certainly not a genuine requirement for the Reds for their upcoming campaign but having him in the squad on loan will make sure that they are a force to reckon with, in each and every competition next season.
But do you think Liverpool should test Gabriel Barbosa next season?
