The transfer period has started to pick up pace with every top club working their socks off to sign top notch players. Manchester City have been fairly active so far and have already announced the signings of Bernardo Silva and Ederson. Many players have been released so far but the biggest question for the Citizens in this summer will be that whether Sergio Aguero will stay or leave the Etihad.
Pep Guardiola’s first big call after arriving in England was to dump Joe Hart – the club legend from the starting eleven as he felt that Hart did not suit his style of play. A similar problem arose with Aguero since the turn of the year as he lost out his place to a 19-year old Gabriel Jesus.
It was reported that all was not well between Guardiola and Aguero as the Argentinian felt that he was overlooked by the manager despite being such a brilliant servant to the club.
Paris Saint-Germain want to take advantage of this strained relationship between a player and his manager and are readying a £60 million bid for Sergio Aguero. The Parisians want a marquee name this summer as they want to snatch the title back from AS Monaco next season. PSG are set to splash over £150 million this transfer window and are keen on pairing Aguero with Cavani up front. They feel that a £220,000 per week offer and a leader’s role in the team might be enough to lure him away from City.
But Pep Guardiola and Manchester City should not let this happen as, despite Aguero lacking the intensity that the manager demands from his strikers, the Argentine is one of the best in the world and guarantees goals whenever he sets foot on the field. He has the best minutes to goal ratio in the history of the Premier League and is arguably the best striker currently present in the league.
On top of that, Sergio Aguero is a proven match winner and characters like these are a must have in any trophy winning team. If City are intending to challenge on all fronts, having Aguero in their ranks is a must.
The striker has made it clear that he wants to honour his contract with the club which means that it is on the board to decide the future of arguably their best ever player. Strikers like Aguero don’t come easy as selling him to PSG will be a big mistake by Manchester City and an even bigger one by Pep Guardiola.
