The Story
The 23-year old Belgian, Michy Batshuayi, who not so long ago was termed as the next hot prospect for Chelsea has found himself stranded in the doldrums of uncertainty of late. The ex-Marseille man joined Chelsea last summer after the latter paid a staggering fee of £33m for his services.
The Belgian has found it tough getting game time under Conte and his only memorable contribution to the season was his title-clinching goal against West Brom. It is being reported that loan talks are going on at the moment between the player and the club, with a possibility of a move to West Ham United.
Bilic would be looking to add firepower upfront and Batshuayi might provide him with just the right solution.
First, let us take a look at the stats of the Player:
Michy Batshuayi – Player Stats
The 23-year-old Belgian had an impressive run with his former team Marseille which saw Abramovich target him as a must-buy player last summer but has mostly spent his time on the bench at Chelsea.
- The player has made only 1 first team start out of his 20 appearances in the Premier League accumulating a meagre 239 mins for the Club. This goes to show how much he has fallen out of favour under Conte.
- Although he has had a short stint in the Premier League, still the player has managed to contribute to his team with a total of 5 goals and 1 assist; a sneak preview of what the Belgian is capable of.
- Having a pass success percentage of almost 84 and strong finishing quality he could just be the right man for the Hammers.
- Standing at almost 6 feet tall the Chelsea forward does boast a strong physical appearance and is also known for his killer instinct in indirect set-pieces. (whoscored)
What would this Loan move mean for both Clubs?
Loaning out Batshuayi would be a profitable move from Conte as opposed to selling since the Italian is aware of the true potential of the Belgian and so it is pretty evident that he does not want to let go of the new recruit so early. With Hazard, Pedro and Costa all available to play in his position, it does seem tough competition to get in the starting line-up as of yet though.
So a transfer would mean that Chelsea would be able to cut down on their expensive wage bill of players providing way for new recruits in the summer.
As far as Batshuayi and West Ham is concerned it would also be a win-win situation for both. Carroll and Sakho have both been inconsistent upfront with injuries plaguing them throughout the season. With the young Belgian, Bilic could look to get some consistency, speed and creativity upfront which they have lacked throughout the season.
The Belgian also would get his fair opportunity of first team starts with the Hammers and who knows, he might eventually be a key figure for West Ham United.
Seeing how beneficial the deal would be for both clubs, the deal is something that everyone would be looking forward to.
