The wheels of motion that had been set with Joe Hart’s shock loan move to Torino gained further pace as one of Manchester City’s most loved and admired fan favourite Pablo Zabaleta is going to be playing his last two matches in a City shirt in the remaining fixtures against West Bromwich Albion and Watford.
Manchester City released an official statement regarding the same and although Pep Guardiola had stressed that the players would be informed of their contract extension status at the end of the season, this announcement is probably to help him prepare for his next move. The official release read:
“Pablo has informed the club he will move to pastures new, but leave behind many happy memories.
“Fans will have the opportunity to show their appreciation for one of the Club’s most loyal and loved servants of recent times against West Brom on Tuesday evening, which will be Pablo’s last home appearance.”
With the game against Watford to be held at the Vicarage Road, Zabaleta is likely to make an appearance against the Baggies in a crucial match for their top four-quest and as always he will be putting his battered and bruised body on the line when the rugged Pulisball merchants visit the town.
Only Joe Hart and Vincent Kompany have been with the club for a longer period of time amongst the current lot with the Belgian skipper arriving at the club 9 days prior to Zaba, who himself joined one day before the takeover by Sheikh Mansour was announced.
With 2 Premier Leagues, 2 League cups and 1 FA Cup, Pablo Zabaleta is an embodiment of the success and the hard work which has gone in Manchester City’s new era and he will go down as a true Blue City legend.
