3 players Arsenal should target if Alexis Sanchez leaves the Gunners

Arsenal’s problems this season have run deep ranging from the manager to the players. One of their best player’s future has been the talking point around the Emirates as Alexis Sanchez has not yet committed his future to the club.

The Chilean has again been the club’s talisman this season but has not yet decided to sign a contract extension which means that Arsenal must sell him after the current season to make some money out of one of the best players in the Premier League.

Sanchez’s current deal expires in 2018 and with the likes of Juventus, Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain interested in the Arsenal forward, a bid of around £70 million would be enough to prize Sanchez away from London.

Arsenal must start preparing for life after the Chilean and must try and lure a big name to the Emirates in order to maintain the club’s image as an attractive proposition for the players and mainly for the supporters.

On that note, let’s take a look at the three players that can prove to be able replacements for Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal.

#1 James Rodriguez

The Colombian attacker has disappointed this season for Real Madrid but that is largely due to the fact that he has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu and has found it tough to muster starts for his team.

Rodriguez will be allowed to leave the club in the summer which is likely to start a bidding war amongst the top clubs in Europe. With more regular football on offer in North London, James could potentially get back to his best.

#2 Marco Reus

The Borussia Dortmund attacker has been a long-term target for the Gunners with Arsene Wenger himself being a huge admirer of the German forward. His versatility of playing on the wings and also behind a striker makes him similar in his playing style to Sanchez and he can be a like for like replacement for the Chilean, in terms of the flair and the end product.

In the last two of the three seasons, Reus has scored 20+ goals in the Bundesliga and has been a brilliant all round player for Dortmund. His fitness record has been his bane in recent years and if he can improve that, Arsenal will get a sensational player to replace the hard working Sanchez.

#3 Yannick Carrasco

The 23-year-old has been a shining light for Atletico Madrid this season and can prove to be a smart buy for Arsenal in the summer. His peak years are ahead of him and he also has all the tools in his repertoire to become one of the best.

He is quick and nimble with his footwork and can outmuscle any full-back in the world. His strength can be compared to Sanchez if the two players are pitted against each other. With Chelsea also interested in Carrasco, Arsenal must do their business early if they want to sign the Belgian winger.
