Manchester United are being linked with some of the best names in the game at the moment. Along with the established stars, United also get associated with some of the emerging talents who have the potential to become one of the best in the world. One such player who has been rumoured to be on his way to Old Trafford in the summer is Benfica’s Anderson Talisca. The 23-year old is currently on loan at Besiktas and is enjoying a brilliant season with the Istanbul-based club.
Along with Manchester United, the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton are also interested in the playmaker but United are the reported front-runners for his signature. The Red Devils scouts were present last week when Besiktas played Lyon in the quarterfinals of the Europa League. His brilliant run for Besiktas has not gone unnoticed with a return of 10 goals and 6 assists this season at the Vodafone Arena attracting potential suitors.
Benfica are essentially a feeder club and won’t have a problem in selling Talisca to Manchester United if they receive a huge fee for the attacking midfielder. The 23-year old has a rocket of a left foot and can play in any position behind the striker. His best form has been seen when Talisca was deployed on the right wing or sometimes in a number 10 role. He usually takes the set pieces from the right flank and has a brilliant vision to spot his teammate from close spaces. It is his control in tight situations which has managed him to make a name for himself on the European circuit.
Manchester United have lacked creativity against teams that sit back and play on the counter. Jose Mourinho’s men have struggled for goals and have often looked short of options in the final third. Talisca can provide an extra dimension to this United lineup with the Red Devils often lacking an agile winger at times. They have looked sluggish at times on the flanks which can be solved by the arrival of Anderson Talisca.
A trio of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Anderson Talisca and Juan Mata would be a dream front line to support the striker in Zlatan Ibrahimović or whoever the club goes and signs.
Along with that, Jose Mourinho has been a long-term admirer of the playmaker since his second stint with Chelsea. A work permit issue had stopped Talisca from joining Wolves in the past but this summer can provide a new twist in the tale if Manchester United do sign the Brazilian attacker. He is a star in the making and can live up to his potential at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho.
