Manchester United are reportedly lining up a move for AC Milan winger Christian Pulisic.
Ruben Amorim has been appointed as the new head coach of Manchester United. He will certainly be eager to stamp his authority on the squad and help several underperforming players regain their confidence. With the club lying 13th in the table, INEOS could hand the Portuguese tactician some funds to spend in the January transfer window.
According to a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato, Manchester United are embroiled in a three-way Premier League battle with Liverpool and West Ham United for the signing of AC Milan star Christian Pulisic.
Pulisic, 26, struggled with persistent injury problems and lack of consistency during his time at Chelsea, but he has resurrected his career since joining AC Milan in July 2023. The USA international has contributed to 12 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions this term by finding the back of the net seven times and providing five assists for Milan.
The wide attacker’s rich vein of form has caught the attention of Man United among several clubs. The aforementioned report adds the Rossoneri don’t want Pulisic to depart in January due to his impressive form but they will be compelled to sell him should they receive an offer of over €60 million.
Christian Pulisic to Manchester United—Makes sense?
Man United fans will be hoping that Ruben Amorim can return the club to their former glories after going 11 years without winning a league title since Alex Ferguson departed. The 39-year-old tactician will expect to be backed in the market by INEOS as he looks to implement his own plans on the club as a whole.
The Red Devils invested millions in the past summer transfer window to reinforce their squad. Having struggled for goals last season, they signed Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna. However, Zirkzee has failed to kick on since scoring the winner in the 2024/25 Premier League season-opener against Fulham at Old Trafford.
Of course, Man United have talented attackers like Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho already in place. Yet, the 20-time English champions have been linked with a move for Christian Pulisic.
Pulisic failed to live up to the lofty expectations in his four years at Chelsea. He has done well to get his career back on track at Milan, where the 26-year-old has become one of the most pieces in Paulo Fonseca’s attacking unit. Despite his upturn in form, Man United are well off bringing the American to Old Trafford.
The speedy winger had a wretched past injury record with Chelsea, where he never managed to play over 30 Premier League games in a season. Secondly, the Red Devils are well-stocked in the wide department, so he will be a luxury acquisition. Plus, Milan will be ready to sell their valuable asset only if they receive an offer of over €60 million, and spending such a big fee on Pulisic would be pointless.
Considering the aforementioned points, Amorim and INEOS must stay far away from Pulisic as they have other positions in the squad that need addressing.
