Arsenal could reportedly make a move for AS Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara. The 23-year-old joined the Italian side from Napoli in 2019 and has gone on to make 58 appearances for the side in two seasons.
Il Romanista have claimed that the Gunners are interested in the Guinea international. The report says Diawara will be available for a fee of around €12 million, and Roma could make a move for Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka if the move for Diawara goes through.
AS Roma do not have the money to buy Xhaka outright and will have to sell a few players to fund his signing.
Diawara has three years remaining on his current deal at Roma, having signed a five-year contract with the Giallorossi.

Amadou Diawara – Should Arsenal move in for him?
The Gunners will be looking at this transfer window to make a few additions to their first team, while they will also let go of a few players. Xhaka has been linked with a move away from the Emirates and it seems that both player and club want it to happen.
Arsenal will have to strengthen heavily in the midfield area as they are currently light in the middle of the park. Xhaka’s potential exit this summer could leave manager Mikel Arteta with just two senior midfielders in Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny, as well as young, promising midfielder, Joe Willock.
Amadou Diawara could be a useful addition to the Arsenal squad. The Guinea international is an energetic and hard-working defensive midfielder who likes to press and dispossess the opponent, while also providing the shield to the backline.
The 23-year-old has the energy and strength to brush off opponents off the ball, while also possessing the awareness to position himself in the right areas.
Advanced talks between #ASRoma and #Arsenal for a swap between Lucas #Torreira and Amadou #Diawara. For Diawara is ready 5-years contract, while Torreira's agent has yet to agree. Both clubs would realize a significant capital gain with this deal. #transfers #AFC

The defensive midfielder averaged 1.4 tackles and 2.3 interceptions in 10 Europa League games last season for Roma. Diawara is also a neat and composed passer of the ball, but most of his passing is sideways or short passes to other midfielders. But, he rarely gives the ball away and keeps it ticking in the middle of the park.
Diawara could be paired with Partey in midfield which could give Arsenal stability and toughness. The Gunners need to add depth to their squad as they are currently weak in several areas of the pitch. The 23-year-old defensive midfielder has shown signs of good potential and he could be an inexpensive addition to the Arsenal squad.
