Nimble-Footed PSG Star Firmly on Liverpool’s Radar: Should Iraola Push for His Signature?

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.

The Reds have added Victor Munoz from Osasuna as their only signing of the summer transfer window thus far. They remain keen to further bolster their wing department following Mohamed Salah’s release at the end of last season, with RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande emerging as the top target.

The Merseysiders have been working extensively behind the scenes on a deal for Diomande for several months, having tracked his development closely since last year. However, recent reports suggest Paris Saint-Germain are in talks with RB Leipzig to sign the Ivory Coast international and they want the player as soon as possible.

This has left Liverpool scrambling for alternatives. Now, reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano has shared a fresh update on Bradley Barcola’s potential move to Anfield. He says on X (formerly Twitter) that the Paris Saint-Germain star is high on the Reds’ list of alternatives and is one to watch in the coming months. If Diomande or Maghnes Akliouche arrives at Parc des Princes, the young Frenchman’s future could change in case of a ‘big proposal’.

Bradley Barcola to Liverpool—Does he fit the Andoni Iraola blueprint?

Barcola, 23, is currently away with France on 2026 World Cup duty. He has chipped in with a goal and an assist in three games, helping France win all their group-stage fixtures and safely advance to the Round of 32 where they will face Sweden. The versatile winger has come off the back of a strong season with PSG, where he chipped in with 13 goals and seven assists in 49 appearances.

The Frenchman has shown on plenty of instances his pure talent at PSG since moving from Lyon in 2023, coming onto Liverpool’s radar over the last 12 months as a result. Barcola has the pace, power, directness and end product to align perfectly with new Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola’s high-pressing, intense system. On paper, he is as impressive as Diomande in 1v1 situations, whilst also providing plenty more threat in front of goal.

The Reds are looking to replace club legend Mohamed Salah this summer having waved goodbye to the Egyptian star after nine sensational years on Merseyside. So, they need someone fit and ready to fill the void created by Salah, as replacing the African ace’s numbers at Liverpool would be nigh impossible.

Bradley Barcola, with his qualities on and off the ball, would enhance Iraola’s starting XI whilst adding quality depth to the attacking ranks. He could potentially form an exciting attacking quartet with Cody Gakpo, Alexander Isak and Dominik Szoboszlai. Plus, the Villeurbanne-born talent’s winning mentality and strong European experience with PSG would come in handy for the former Premier League champions.

At the right price, Barcola could be Liverpool’s ideal man.
