Chelsea Linked With Man United Star: A Shock Move On The Cards

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho in this winter transfer market.

The Blues are exploring the possibility of signing the Argentinean international before the end of the January transfer window, and the player’s two agents were spotted at Stamford Bridge on Monday night to watch Enzo Maresca’s side beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1. Serie A side Napoli are also pushing for his signature, but it is understood that the Red Devils starlet intends to stay in the Premier League.

According to a report from The Telegraph, Chelsea are set to hold more talks with Manchester United over Alejandro Garnacho. They are seeking assurances over the Madrid-born talent’s temperament before deciding whether to accelerate their pursuit of the player.

Garnacho has not been a starter for Man United in new head coach Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system. With the team now playing with wing-backs and not wingers, the 20-year-old has seen his game time being limited. As a result, the 20-time English champions may be ready to part ways with the South American winger, with the aforementioned report adding that they would demand around £50 million amid interest from Chelsea and Napoli.

Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea—Right move?

Chelsea are in the market for attacking reinforcements in 2025, owing to Mykhaylo Mudryk’s provisional ban and speculation surrounding the futures of Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix. Nkunku wants to leave Chelsea in this transfer window, while Felix is attracting interest from AC Milan.

As a result, the Pensioners have prepared a shortlist of wide attackers, and Garnacho features among their potential targets. Jadon Sancho is already on loan at Chelsea from Man United and having him thrive in a new environment could give the West Londoners more belief to raid their Premier League rivals.

A left-winger by trade, Garnacho can also play off the right as he did for most of last season under former boss Erik ten Hag. Speedy, dynamic and unpredictable with a great work ethic, the 20-year-old could thrive in Maresca’s system at Stamford Bridge. He would be a good option to potentially replace Mudryk whilst competing with the likes of Sancho, Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke for a spot in wide areas of the pitch.

Needless to say, the South American is not a finished product by any means. At 20, he is unsurprisingly still raw but has a huge potential that Maresca can unlock with proper coaching and guidance at Chelsea. That being said, if the Blues can agree a fee with Man United at around £50 for Garnacho, it would certainly represent a fantastic long-term investment.
