Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush ahead of a possible swoop in 2025.
Owing to a lack of summer arrivals, Arne Slot has been using the same squad that he inherited from his predecessor Jurgen Klopp. He has done a fantastic job thus far, leading the Merseyside club to the summit of the Premier League with eight wins from the opening 10 games.
However, the Reds have some calls to make as far as their attack is concerned. With the experienced Mohamed Salah in the final months of his contract, questions surround the Reds dressing room regarding their goal-scoring potential going forward.
According to the German sports Magazine Sport Bild, Liverpool have reached out to the agents of Omar Marmoush to express their interest in signing him. If Salah does not extend his stay beyond the ongoing season, the chiefs at Kirby will consider a move for the Eintracht Frankfurt forward.
Marmoush, 25, who was linked with the Reds since the past summer, has been in red-hot goalscoring form this season. The Egyptian ace has scored 12 goals and assisted a further nine across 14 matches, which has helped Frankfurt up to third in the Bundesliga standings. The 25-year-old has a contract at the Deutsche Bank Park until 2027, so the Bundesliga club have no real hurry to sell him next year.
Omar Marmoush to Liverpool—A decent option?
Liverpool already have a star-studded attacking unit and bolstered it further by signing Federico Chiesa from Juventus in the summer. However, Chiesa has barely played for his new club as he has been sidelined with an injury.
This means Arne Slot has had to rotate Mo Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez when it comes to picking his front three. However, with Jota also out injured, the Dutchman’s options have become limited. And should Salah decide this season is his final one at Anfield, the Reds have to dip in the market and bring in a reliable goalscorer.
All links point towards Marmoush, who has been sensational for Frankfurt since arriving on a free transfer from Wolfsburg in 2023. He netted 17 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions during his debut season at Frankfurt and has followed it up with a rollicking 12 goals in 14 games so far this term.
Like several forwards at Liverpool, the Egypt star can play out wide and through the middle. He is a player capable of operating in varied attacking roles and can potentially go on to replace Salah in Slot’s lineup. Liverpool may have an advantage in the race for Marmoush as they could use their superstar Salah to help convince his Egypt teammate to make the move to Anfield.
That said, it will be interesting to see if the Merseysiders intensify their interest in the Frankfurt ace and table a bid next summer.
