Predicted Liverpool Lineup vs Luton Town

Liverpool will aim to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League on Wednesday evening when they entertain Luton Town at Anfield.

Since being beaten by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium at the start of the month, the Reds have picked up back-to-back Premier League wins. After seeing off Burnley 3-1 at Turf Moor, they mauled Brentford 4-1 away last weekend.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will have a chance to go five points clear of second-placed Arsenal in midweek but face a tricky test against Luton Town, who were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Manchester United at Kenilworth Road on Sunday.

Liverpool Team News

Liverpool’s injury condition is going from bad to worse, as Mohamed Salah now seems doubtful for the upcoming clash against Luton, having suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury after coming off the bench in the 4-1 win over Brentford.

Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez all left the pitch with their own concerns against Brentford, with Jota and Jones set for a spell on the sidelines with respective knee and ankle problems and will not be available for the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday. Trent Alexander-Arnold is also ruled out of the Luton game, while Dominik Szoboszlai and Alisson Becker remain major doubts due to hamstring issues.

Meanwhile, Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip and Stefan Bajcetic remain longer-term absentees for Liverpool.

Predicted Liverpool lineup vs Luton Town (4-3-3)

Goalkeeper

Alisson suffered a hamstring problem in training on Friday and subsequently missed the game at Brentford, with Caoimhin Kelleher deputising for the Brazilian in goal. He is set to be in between the sticks again, aiming to keep a clean sheet against Luton in midweek.

Defence

Conor Bradley should retain his spot at right-back, but Joe Gomez could replace Andy Robertson at left-back against the Hatters. The full-backs will be key going forward but must also help out the centre-back pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.

football formations

Liverpool’s back four must stay focused and disciplined to keep the Luton forwards at bay.

Midfield

Curtis Jones’ injury is a big blow, and the Englishman could be replaced by Ryan Gravenberch in the middle of the park. Gravenberch, who came off the bench in the 4-1 win over Brentford on Saturday, should join Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister to help the Reds control possession and dictate terms against Rob Edwards’ side.

Attack

Darwin Nunez was taken off at half-time last weekend as a precautionary measure and the striker could start this game on the bench. With Mohamed Salah also a big doubt, Jurgen Klopp could hand Harvey Elliot a start on the right flank, with Luis Diaz hoping to produce a strong performance from the opposite wing.

In Diogo Jota’s injury absence, the onus will be on Cody Gakpo to lead the Liverpool attack against Luton.
