Aston Villa interested in Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville—Good move?

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

The Whites had a hectic summer transfer window that saw several key players leave the club following relegation from the Premier League as they pursued other options. Despite the problems, manager Daniel Farke remained calm and has built a squad capable of returning to the top flight at the first time of asking. And Crysencio Summerville has been the club’s standout performer, which has unsurprisingly led to a slew of interest from Premier League outfits.

According to Football Insider, Aston Villa are keen to sign Crysencio Summerville in this ongoing winter transfer window but face competition from Brighton and Hove Albion. However, Leeds United have no intention of selling the Netherlands Under-21 international as they aim to maintain their strong attacking lineup and boost their promotion hopes.

Summerville, 22 has been among the best players in the Championship this season, bagging 12 goals and six assists in 23 appearances. He is the top scorer for Daniel Farke’s side, who sit fourth in the Championship.

Crysencio Summerville to Aston Villa—Good move?

Aston Villa are flying in the Premier League at the moment. They are currently second in the league, behind Liverpool and ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal. Unai Emery’s side find themselves in a solid position to make the top four and qualify for the Champions League next season.

The Spanish tactician feels adding a couple of quality players to his squad would make Villa stronger and boost their hopes of bringing Champions League football to Villa Park. He has set his sights on Leeds’ Crysencio Summerville, with Villa seemingly in the hunt for an attacker to add more creativity, flair and dynamism to their attack.

Summerville, who arrived at Elland Road from Feyenoord in 2020, has made a significant impact on Leeds’ promotion push this campaign. He is a versatile winger, capable of being stationed on the right or left flank. The 22-year-old has enjoyed his best success on the left side for Leeds this season, and given his proficiency in front of goal, he could be used as a striker if required.

Emery has a history of nurturing young talents and making them into world-class stars. The Villa boss can take Summerville’s game to the next level if he arrives at Villa Park. Given Leeds are chasing promotion, it is unlikely that they allow Summerville to leave this transfer window. But a big offer in the summer of 2024 from Villa could persuade the Whites, regardless of their status.

So for now, Villa must continue tracking Summerville’s progress at Elland Road and go for other targets who can come in and help Emery’s side in fulfilling their objectives for the season.
