Liverpool Keeping Tabs On High-flying Bundesliga Forward: Should Klopp Make A Move?

Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on TSG Hoffenheim forward Maximilian Beier ahead of next summer’s transfer window.

The German forward’s exploits in the ongoing Bundesliga season have drawn the attention of several European clubs, including Liverpool. He has scored six goals and assisted a further four in 13 league appearances as TSG Hoffenheim push for the European places.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool have enquired about TSG Hoffenheim’s Maximilian Beier, who has a release clause of €30 million next summer.

After spending two seasons with Hannover on loan, Beier, 21, is making waves in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim. He has impressed scouts with his clinical finishing and speed in the final third. The German under-21 international’s contract at Hoffenheim runs till 2025, but with many clubs interested, the forward could leave the Bundesliga outfit next year.

Maximilian Beier to Liverpool—Timing is everything!

Currently top of the table, Liverpool are in a great position ahead of the January transfer window. They are also leading their group in the Europa League, with Jurgen Klopp balancing the two competitions very well so far. However, Jurgen Klopp certainly isn’t content with letting his squad rest on their laurels and has identified a forward to improve his forces in January.

Liverpool have a stacked forward line comprising Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz, with all of them established first-team players. But, with Salah set to join the Egypt national team for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations in mid-January and Jota out injured, the Reds could do with a new forward in January itself.

Maximilian Beier, in that regard, could be of great help to Liverpool if the club manage to bring forward their transfer plans. Primarily a centre-forward, Beier is also capable of operating out wide, which could suit Liverpool perfectly when it comes to Klopp’s rotational forward policy. The 21-year-old is an immense talent with a bright future ahead of him, and Klopp could groom him into a world-class striker for Liverpool.

Maximilian Beier could prove to be a solid, long-term addition to the Reds’ attacking force. He could come in at Anfield and make an immediate impact also, whilst adding depth to the squad. The youngster has 10-goal contributions in 13 Bundesliga games this season, and his numbers are likely to improve when he is playing at a bigger club with established players around him.

Liverpool certainly have the financial muscle to splash the €30 million asking price next summer for Beier and the fee could prove to be a snip in the long run if the German striker manages to fulfil his sky-high potential at Anfield.

Maximilian Beier is hoping to cement his place in the German national team ahead of the Euro 2024, so it will be interesting to see whether he leaves Hoffenheim in January if Liverpool come calling with a bigger offer.
