Predicted Newcastle United lineup vs Crystal Palace

Newcastle United resume their Premier League campaign on Saturday when they welcome Crystal Palace to St James’ Park.

The Magpies’ three-game winning run in the Premier League came to a halt before the international break following a 2-2 draw with West Ham at the London Stadium. Prior to the game at West Ham, they had beaten Burnley, Sheffield United and Brentford in the league whilst destroying Paris Saint-Germain 4-1 at home in the Champions League group stage.

Eddie Howe and his men will now be aiming to build on a highly productive September ahead of another demanding period.

Newcastle United Team News

Alexander Isak withdrew from the Sweden squad after he sustained a groin issue during Newcastle’s 2-2 draw at West Ham. He remains doubtful for the game against Crystal Palace along with Joelinton, who missed the game at West Ham with a hamstring problem.

Sven Botman has missed the last four matches but is expected to be back in contention for Palace’s visit to St James’ Park. Meanwhile, Sandro Tonali left the Italy camp following an investigation probe from the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office, which puts his availability on Saturday unknown.

Predicted Newcastle United lineup vs Crystal Palace (4-3-3)

Goalkeeper

Newcastle are likely to line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with Nick Pope in goal. The English shot-stopper will be hoping to keep a clean sheet after conceding twice in the last game at West Ham.

Defence

Sven Botman is set to return after his injury, and the Dutchman will start alongside Fabian Schar at the heart of Newcastle’s defence. Dan Burn and Kieran Trippier will be deployed as the full-backs here. Both players will look to protect the central defenders and help the team going forward.

Midfield

As for the midfield unit, Bruno Guimaraes will essay his No.6 role. He will look to take control of the game as quickly as possible against the Eagles. With Sandro Tonali’s availability in doubt, Elliot Anderson could replace the Italian in the starting XI. Sean Longstaff should complete Newcastle’s midfield unit for the weekend’s fixture.

The trio must work hard to protect Newcastle’s defence and create opportunities in the final third for their teammates.

Attack

As Alexander Isak is a big doubt, Callum Wilson should get the chance to spearhead the Magpies’ attack. Wilson will look to continue his impressive goalscoring form and link well with wide attackers Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy.

Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento and Matt Targett could be brought off the bench in the second half if required.
