Tottenham In The Final Stages Of Signing Creative Attacking Option

Tottenham have reportedly reached a verbal agreement to sign Israeli international Manor Solomon.

The north Londoners are moving swiftly in the summer transfer window as they look to back new manager Ange Postecoglou to build a strong squad for the upcoming season. After turning Dejan Kulusevski’s loan from Juventus into a permanent deal, they have signed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and midfielder James Maddison.

According to The Athletic, Tottenham are set to sign Manor Solomon from Shakhtar Donetsk on a five-year deal. He is set to undergo a medical this week before signing his contract with Spurs.

Solomon, 23, joined Fulham on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer after exercising a FIFA rule allowing Ukraine-based players to suspend their contracts following the invasion of Russia.

The Israeli international missed the opening months of the 2022-23 season after picking up a serious knee injury in a behind-closed-doors friendly. On return, the winger was on fire, scoring five goals in as many games as he helped the Cottagers clinch a remarkable top-half finish.

With Solomon able to suspend his contract for another year by using the aforementioned FIFA rule, his agreement with Shakhtar will lapse at the end of 2023 and he therefore will be able to join Tottenham for free.

Manor Solomon to Tottenham—Exciting addition for Spurs?

New manager Ange Postecoglou has moved in quickly to strengthen his squad after Tottenham finished a disappointing eighth in the Premier League last season, missing out on European football for the 2023-24 campaign. With the additions of Vicario and Maddison, as well as the permanent acquisition of Kulusevski, Postecoglou’s squad rebuild in north London has started taking shape.

The Australian tactician is now in search of creative forwards who can improve Spurs’ productivity in front of goal next season, and a player like Manor Solomon could help his cause. Solomon was unfortunate with a serious knee injury that hampered his progress at Fulham at the start of the 2022/23 season. After recovering from it, he showed the fans what they were missing, with the 23-year-old adding energy, speed, creativity, and most importantly, goals to Marco Silva’s side.

As a result, the Israeli winger should not face any difficulty adjusting to the Premier League, and him hitting the ground running next season should be of great boost for Postecoglou’s Spurs. The north Londoners will not just have a player who will directly contribute to goals and assists aplenty; Solomon can be a match-winner and will impact games in various ways.

The ex-Shakhtar Donetsk man could combine very well with creative players such as James Maddison and Son Heung-min, while his movement off the ball can prove to be menacing in the final third. He has the energy, work rate and drive to fit into the high-intensity attacking football Postecoglou wants to bring to Spurs.

Going by the glimpses of the talent he showcased at Fulham, Solomon would be an exciting addition to Tottenham’s attacking ranks.
