Tottenham Star’s Pursuit Set To Intensify Further: What Should Be The Club’s Stand?

Bayern Munich are reportedly ready to intensify their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has rebuffed Bayern Munich’s approaches, rejecting two bids so far. In an effort to avoid losing their best player for free this time next year, Daniel Levy has slapped a £100 million price tag on the England international’s back.

According to The Telegraph, Bayern Munich have ramped up their efforts to sign Harry Kane with two of the club’s top executives flying to London for a fresh round of talks with Daniel Levy and the Tottenham hierarchy.

Although Manchester United are believed to be Kane’s ideal destination, Spurs are not interested to negotiate with a direct Premier League rival, which has left Bayern as the frontrunners for his signature. The German champions are hopeful of finalising a deal for the prolific English striker before Spurs’ pre-season friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk on August 6.

With Harry Kane open to joining Bayern, should Spurs sell him and quickly move on from the long-drawn saga?

To put in across simply, Yes. It should be a no-brainer to assume that new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou would want Kane’s future to be resolved as quickly as possible as he focuses on the upcoming Premier League season. Despite the club’s struggles last term, Kane scored goals for fun as usual. Along with Son Heung-min, he was the player to score double-digit goals in the league while being productive with his chance creation.

Son and Richarlison’s poor form this past campaign means Tottenham will need more than one outlet to improve their fortunes up front. And Kane potentially exiting the club—with the Spurs hierarchy mindful they must consider a sale this summer to avoid losing the player on a free transfer next summer—will leave Ange Postecoglou with a huge gap to fill in his squad ahead of the new season.

Harry Kane hit a sensational 30 goals in the Premier League in 2022/23, with a further three assists to go along with it. It meant that he had one of his most productive campaigns, which demonstrates that the striker is still at the very top of his game despite him recently turning 30. With that in mind, it is vital for Spurs to resolve Kane’s situation and sell him quickly. The money generated from his sale will allow Postecoglou to reinvest in a new striker to go with the attacking additions such as James Maddison and Manor Solomon they wish to bring on board.

Possible replacement?

Spurs are reportedly keeping tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani as a potential replacement for Kane. They have already spoken to the representatives of the French forward, who had an exceptional 2022/23 campaign with Eintracht Frankfurt following his move from Nantes, scoring 23 goals across all competitions and picking up 17 assists along the way.

Kolo Muani has the required qualities to develop into a top-class forward, and at 24, he could prove to be a terrific long-term investment for Postecoglou’s Spurs. All in all, Harry Kane has been a fantastic servant for Spurs but it is time for the club to part ways with him, given his desire to play in the Champions League and the uncertainty surrounding his future possibly threatening to spill over into the club’s plans to regroup and chart a more meaningful path under the new manager.

By selling Kane to Bayern, the north Londoners must go all out to sign Kolo Muani, who has the potential to develop into a valuable asset for the club in the long run.
