Burnley interested in Amad Diallo- Right option for Kompany?

Newly promoted Burnley are among the clubs reportedly interested in signing Manchester United winger Amad Diallo.

The four-cap Ivory Coast international, 21, impressed on loan at Sunderland last season, netting an impressive 13 goals in 37 matches as they mounted an unlikely promotion bid. However, despite his successful stint with the Black Cats in the Championship, there is no guarantee from Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag that the youngster will be part of his plans for the upcoming 2022/23 season.

According to The Daily Mail, Burnley are considering a move for Amad Diallo on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United.

Amad was signed by Man United from Atalanta in January 2021, but has played just nine games in all competitions so far due to several loan spells. While his first loan spell at Rangers during the second half of the 2021/22 season proved to be largely unsuccessful, the 21-year-old winger flourished during a second at Sunderland under the management of Tony Mowbray last season.

Now that there are chances of the Ivorian being made available for another loan spell, Burnley have joined the race for his signature.

Amad Diallo to Burnley—Right loan option for Vincent Kompany?

Burnley are back in the Premier League after winning the Championship league title last season in impressive fashion—racking up over 100 points under the guidance of Vincent Kompany.

Kompany needs to bolster his squad ahead of the Clarets’ Premier League campaign. So far, only goalkeeper James Trafford has completed a medical at Turf Moor after Burnley agreed a £15m deal to sign him from Treble winners Manchester City. They are in talks to sign Nathan Redmond on a free transfer after he was released from Besiktas at the end of last season.

In addition to a potential deal for Redmond, the Burnley boss wants a wide player who can improve the potency of their attack. Man United’s Amad Diallo is in his sights, with the youngster’s future at the club undecided under Ten Hag, who will make a decision on him and other young talents in the squad after assessing them during the team’s tour in the USA.

Regardless of the outcome, it’s important for the 21-year-old to get regular playing time wherever he goes and, after impressing on loan at Sunderland in the Championship last season, it would be ideal for him to get a regular taste of top-flight football this time around. A move to Burnley, in that regard, would be ideal.

Under Kompany, Burnley plays an attractive brand of football and this could suit Amad’s playing style. The Ivory Coast would bring pace, creativity, unpredictability and flair to Kompany’s attack while adding competition within the squad. He would be a good fit to compete with Manuel Benson for a spot on the right flank, with the Clarets in desperate need to improve their squad depth ahead of a gruelling Premier League campaign.

With that being said, Burnley must hurry up to get Amad on loan as there’s interest in him from Sheffield United and Leicester City. Getting regular game time at a Premier League club should be the next step in the Ivorian’s development, which makes joining Burnley on loan a lot of sense.
