Tottenham Plotting A Move For Seasoned Premier League Attacker: Shrewd Choice For Conte

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly plotting a swoop for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha next summer.

The Ivory Coast international, 30, is out of contract at Crystal Palace at the end of the season and has rejected multiple extension offers. Considering his situation with the Eagles, it doesn’t come as a surprise to see bigger clubs now showing a strong interest in snapping the forward up next year.

According to Football Insider, Wilfried Zaha is set to become a free agent in June 2023 and Tottenham are interested in signing him on a Bosman transfer. Arsenal have also been strongly linked with the Crystal Palace forward for some time now and could join the race for his signature again next summer, the report adds.

Zaha has been a pivotal figure for Crystal Palace in both spells, and he has been in excellent form this season. The Ivorian has six goals and two assists to his name in 13 Premier League appearances, but this appears to be his last campaign with the Eagles as he enters the final six months of his contract.

Wilfried Zaha to Tottenham—Should they go in for him?

Tottenham signed Richarlison from Everton in the past summer transfer window to bolster their attacking options. Richarlison has added pace, dynamism and variety to Tottenham’s front line, which already had the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Moura.

However, with Lucas Moura expected to leave upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season, Spurs manager Antonio Conte could target an attacker to replace the Brazilian forward in his squad. Wilfried Zaha, on a potential free transfer, could prove to be a shrewd acquisition for Spurs.

Zaha is a proven Premier League commodity having racked up over 290 appearances. He has been Crystal Palace’s talisman for a number of seasons now, registering 89 goals and 75 assists in the process. At 30, the Ivory Coast international is operating at the peak of his powers and this could be his last opportunity to play for a big club in the Premier League.

A move to Tottenham could be a tempting proposition for Zaha, who has previously admitted of his dream to play in the Champions League. Spurs could use more quality and depth in attack, and Zaha would be a fine addition to cover and compete with the likes of Kane, Son, Richarlison and Kulusevski. The ex-Man United man would add pace, flair, creativity and goals to Antonio Conte’s side, whilst helping them challenge for major honours in the coming seasons.

Thus, the north London club’s interest in signing Wilfried Zaha on a free transfer makes complete sense.
