Leeds United seek to end their six-game winless run in the Premier League when they travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City on Thursday evening.
After making a bright start to the 2022/23 season that saw them collect seven points from their opening three fixtures, the Whites have fizzled out and picked up just two points from their last six games.
They were edged 1-0 by league leaders Arsenal at Elland Road at the weekend, and while the performance was encouraging, Jesse Marsch’s side came away empty handed. Slipping to 15th in the table, Marsch will be desperate to get back to winning ways in midweek against the basement dwelling Leicester City side.
Leeds United Team News
Leeds United will be without Archie Gray, Stuart Dallas, Leo Hjelde and Adam Forshaw for the trip to Leicester City.
Junior Firpo returned to the bench last weekend after recovering from a knee injury, and the left-back will straightaway find himself in the thick of action with Pascal Struijk ruled out through injury.
Predicted Leeds lineup vs Leicester City (4-2-3-1)
Goalkeeper
Illan Meslier is the club’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper and should start against Leicester City. The young Frenchman’s aim will be to shut up shop as quickly as possible.
Defence
Ahead of Meslier, Jesse Marsch will have to make one enforced change to the backline which started against Arsenal. This means Rasmus Kristensen, Robin Koch, Liam Cooper and Junior Firpo should all start in the Leeds lineup, hoping to keep a counter-attacking Leicester City side at bay.
Luke Ayling and Diego Llorente will serve as cover in the defensive positions for Leeds.
Midfield
Summer signings Tyler Adams and Marc Roca have done a good job for the Whites thus far, striking a promising understanding between them in midfield. Adams’ energy and ball-winning skills seem to complement well with Roca’s passing and vision, giving Marsch’s side a strong base in the middle of the park in the Leeds lineup. They are set to continue doing their job in midweek.
Brenden Aaronson will look to pull the strings from his No.10 role in the Leeds lineup, occupying important positions on the pitch and influencing the game with his incisive passing and movement.
Attack
Jack Harrison could be deployed in his natural role out wide as it allows him to use his speed to beat his man and put delicious crosses into the box. Luis Sinisterra will retain his place on the left flank in the Leeds lineup, hoping to enjoy a productive outing against a struggling Leicester side.
Patrick Bamford was excellent in many ways against Arsenal, despite missing the penalty. He is likely to be handed a start up top in place of the struggling Rodrigo.
