West Ham United will look to bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Wolves at the London Stadium on Saturday.
The Hammers are 18th in the table, winless in their last three games. They have lost back-to-back games to Chelsea and Everton respectively, and the poor start to the new season has seen manager David Moyes attract a lot of criticism.
After a drab display in the 1-0 defeat to Everton before the international break, Moyes will want his team to put in a better performance against Wolves and start October on a high note.
West Ham Team News
West Ham could be set to receive a timely injury boost with Ben Johnson having a chance of being in the squad to face Wolves, after recovering from a hamstring injury he sustained against Aston Villa last month.
Summer signing Nayef Aguerd is a long-term casualty after picking up a serious ankle injury in pre-season, although he is making good progress of late.
Predicted West Ham Lineup vs Wolves (4-2-3-1)
Goalkeeper
There is no looking past Lukasz Fabianski in goal for West Ham. The Poland international will be eager to keep a clean sheet at home against Wolves.
Defence
Ahead of Fabianski, Kurt Zouma should form the central defensive partnership with Thilo Kehrer in the West Ham lineup. Vladimir Coufal will start as the right-back for the Hammers, with Aaron Cresswell picking himself on the left flank.
The West Ham backline, along with the goalkeeper, will need to be at their toes for the entire 90 minutes to keep Wolves at bay. Meanwhile, Craig Dawson, Emerson Palmieri and Angelo Ogbonna will be defensive options on the bench.
Midfield
The midfield department is sound and secure with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek at the heart of it. Rice and Soucek will be expected to provide security to the backline whilst adding impetus to the West Ham attacks.
Lucas Paqueta brings something different to the Hammers midfield, with the Selecao star’s dynamism, movement and late runs into the box capable of making a difference. He will be tasked with providing the creative spark that the team would need to carve open a well-drilled Wolves defence.
Attack
Summer signing Gianluca Scamacca is yet to fully adapt to the Premier League; thus, Michail Antonio could again find himself leading the West Ham lineup. Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals are likely to be given another opportunity out on the flanks to impress.
Moyes can call upon offensive players such as Said Benrahma, Manuel Lanzini and Scamacca off the bench if and when required against Wolves.
