4 Changes From The Weekend: 4-2-3-1 Liverpool Predicted XI vs Rangers

Liverpool will look to do the double over Rangers in the Champions League when they travel to the Ibrox on Wednesday evening.

The Reds beat Rangers 2-0 at Anfield last week thanks to goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah on either side of the interval. Jurgen Klopp’s side, though, failed to build on the victory over the Scottish side in the Premier League, as they fell to a 3-2 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

As a result, Klopp will want a rousing response from his boys at Rangers, who have suffered three straight losses in Group A.

Liverpool Team News

Liverpool suffered a double injury blow against Arsenal as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz were forced off with injuries.

Diaz suffered a knee injury following a clash with Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey and is now set to spend a minimum of eight weeks on the sidelines. Alexander-Arnold is a big doubt due to an ankle injury, which led to him being subbed off at half time at the Emirates Stadium.

Predicted Liverpool Lineup vs Rangers (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper

Alisson has not been in the best of forms this season, yet, he is a certainty to start in the Liverpool goal in Glasgow.

Defence

There are glaring signs of weaknesses in the Liverpool defence and Klopp must address them sooner rather than later. Ibrahima Konate could receive his first Champions League start of the season, with the Frenchman pairing up with Virgil van Dijk in central defence.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold unlikely to feature, Joe Gomez is likely to deputise at right-back in the Liverpool lineup, while Kostas Tsimikas continues at left-back.

After conceding goals at an alarming rate this season, Klopp will hope his back four stay strong and organised throughout the 90 minutes at the Ibrox.

Midfield

The Liverpool tactician may look to freshen up things in midfield, recalling Fabinho into the side in place of skipper Jordan Henderson. Fabinho brings calmness and stability to the Reds’ side and, while he hasn’t been in the best of forms this season, having his experience for an away game will be vital.

The Brazilian will form the double pivot with Thiago in the Liverpool lineup, as the Reds look to dominate Rangers in the middle of the park.

Roberto Firmino continued his good run of form of late with a goal against Arsenal and should replace the injured Luis Diaz in the attack, with Diogo Jota shifting to the left wing in the Liverpool lineup.

Attack

Up front, Darwin Nunez repaid Klopp’s faith in him with a goal against Arsenal, making a case for another start in the Liverpool lineup. The Uruguayan is set to lead the Reds’ attack, flanked by Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota.

If the front three of Salah, Nunez and Jota can click into gear, and Firmino manages to exploit the spaces behind the Rangers’ backline, the hosts could be in for a long night at the Ibrox.
