Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview – Team News, Predicted Lineups, Key Players

Liverpool will continue their quest for an unprecedented quadruple when they host Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are one point behind league-leaders Manchester City and can ill afford a slip-up at this stage of the season. The Reds have already bagged the Carabao Cup and are in the final of the Champions League and FA Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, have lost ground in the top-four race over the past month or so. Antonio Conte’s men dropped crucial points against Brighton and Brentford and now find themselves in fifth place, two points behind London rivals Arsenal.

Liverpool have a formidable record at Anfield in the league, having won their last 12 matches. But Spurs will be buoyed by the fact that they managed to hold the Reds to a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur team news

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp is expected to make a number of changes to the side that beat Villarreal 3-2 in the Champions League in midweek. Luis Diaz produced an instant impact after coming off the bench against the Spanish side and should start here, possibly in place of Sadio Mane, who played the entire 90 minutes in midweek.

Joel Matip will likely replace Ibrahima Konate in central defence, with Jordan Henderson slotting in for Naby Keita in midfield.

Tottenham Hotspur

Antonio Conte will be without Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon and Japhet Tanganga for the trip to Anfield, but Dejan Kulusevski, who was benched in the win against Leicester, will likely return to the starting lineup in place of Lucas Moura.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur key players

Liverpool – Luis Diaz

The Colombian has been a revelation since arriving at Merseyside in January, playing an integral role in sustaining Liverpool’s title challenge. His pace and trickery make him a nightmare for defenders to deal with and Emerson, who is not the greatest tracking back, could find himself in real trouble if he doesn’t maintain his discipline.

Tottenham Hotspur – Harry Kane

The England captain has scored four times in his last seven trips to Anfield. He also netted the opener in the reverse fixture in December. If Spurs are to have any chance of getting a result, Kane will need to be at his imperial best, in front of goal and in the build-up play.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur
