Team News, Predicted 4-2-3-1 Rangers lineup vs Celtic

Rangers will play host to Celtic in the 428th Old Firm derby on Sunday as the Scottish Premiership title race heats up.

Rangers head into this clash on the back of a seven-game unbeaten run, but will be fully aware that any slip-up will spell the end of their title challenge.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side are currently three points adrift of the league leaders with just seven games left to play.

Celtic have strung together a remarkable run of results to maintain their lead at the top of the table. Ange Postecoglou’s side have won 11 of their last 12 league games and will have one hand on the trophy if they can avoid defeat on Sunday.

Rangers have won their last four home matches against Celtic in all competitions, but were soundly beaten by the Hoops in the reverse fixture in February.

Rangers Team News

Rangers have been rocked by the injury to their top-scorer, Alfredo Morelos. The Colombian was recently spotted on crutches and could miss the remainder of the season.

Kyogo Furuhashi has returned to training and could make the squad on Sunday. But there are doubts over Aaron Ramsey’s fitness.

Predicted Rangers lineup vs Celtic (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper

Allan McGregor will continue between the sticks for Rangers. After a mid-season slump, the 40-year-old has rediscovered his best form and will relish the prospect of going up against a formidable Celtic attack.

Defenders

Calvin Bassey will retain his spot at left-back. He has started every league game since the arrival of Van Bronckhorst.

Filip Helander started in central defence against Dundee last time out, but he will likely be replaced by Leon Balogun, who will partner the ever-reliable Connor Goldson.

football formations

James Tavernier is inarguably Rangers’ most important player and will start on the right side of the defence. The Englishman has scored six goals and provided 11 assists in the league this season.

Midfielders

Ryan Jack will start in a deep midfield role alongside the versatile John Lundstram. Jack has only just returned from injury but will play an important role in Rangers’ run-in.

Glen Kamara had a dismal outing the last time Rangers played Celtic and he will be hoping for a better showing this time around. He will take up the No. 10 role.

Attackers

Ryan Kent will occupy his usual spot on the left. The Englishman’s pace and dribbling ability can cause problems for any defence in the competition.

Joe Aribo will likely start on the right, with Kemar Roofe leading the line for the hosts in the absence of Morelos.
