Arsenal Emerge As Potential Suitor For Star Man United Forward Pondering Exit

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is reportedly considering his future at the club over lack of minutes, with Arsenal among the clubs monitoring his situation.

The England international, 24, has started two of Manchester United’s past 11 Premier League games and is understood to be unhappy with his game time under interim manager Ralf Rangnick. With Anthony Elanga impressing in recent times and Jadon Sancho cementing his spot on the left flank, he has fallen out of favour with Rangnick, leading to speculation over his future at Old Trafford.

According to 90min, Arsenal are one of three Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on the situation of Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, who is also coveted by La Liga champions Atletico Madrid. The other two Premier League clubs interested in him are West Ham United and Newcastle United.

Rashford missed the opening two months of the current campaign because of a shoulder surgery. Since recovering, the English forward hasn’t been at his best, managing only four goals and two assists in 18 league games to date. The 24-year-old is frustrated at not playing more and wants to have talks with the club to understand whether he still has a first-team future at Old Trafford, the report adds.

Marcus Rashford to Arsenal—Should the Gunners make a move?

Arsenal may be willing to spend a significant amount on signing a forward in the summer considering the potential crisis up front for the club in the coming months. With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang having left the club in January, and the Gunners set to lose Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette on free transfers at the end of the season, there’s a serious need to bring in reinforcements in the summer.

Marcus Rashford, in that regard, becomes a viable target for Arsenal. Rashford is not exactly an out-and-out no.9 which the Gunners would want to lead their attack next season, but his versatility and proven Premier League calibre would be welcome at the Emirates Stadium.

Fast, agile and athletic, the England international can create chances, link play and score goals for his team. He can be creative with his passing in the final third, use his vision to find his teammate in a goal-scoring position and get at the end of things to finish off chances. Due to his lightning speed and ability to drive forward with the ball, the 24-year-old is a nightmare to defend against.

Perhaps, Rashford has had the first real dip in form in the last three years at Man United. He has struggled with his decision-making on and off the ball, but all could change with new scenery and a new manager. Mikel Arteta could be that man to get Rashford firing all cylinders again by inducting him in a system that has seen the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe blossom at Arsenal this season.

At 24, the Man United star is still a considerable way off from his peak, and if he thinks the end of the season could be the right time to move on from his boyhood club, Arsenal would be the ideal destination for him to unlock his true potential. All in all, the Gunners must make a cheeky bid to test Man United’s resolve for Marcus Rashford in the summer transfer window.
