Rangnick to make several changes – Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs Young Boys

Manchester United will welcome Young Boys at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening in their final Champions League group-stage fixture.

The Red Devils have turned things around after a disastrous start to the European competition and guaranteed a spot in the knockout stages as group winners.

They pinched a point against Atalanta in Italy before beating Villarreal 2-0 in Spain in their last Champions League fixture, thereby, making the final game a dead rubber.

Ralf Rangnick recorded his first win as Manchester United interim manager against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday and will be keen to build on that result in the Champions League.

Manchester United Team News

Edinson Cavani (tendon), Luke Shaw (head), Raphael Varane (hamstring) and Paul Pogba (thigh) are all sidelined for Manchester United.

Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard missed the game against Crystal Palace after experiencing pain in training and remain doubtful for the Young Boys clash. Meanwhile, Phil Jones is ineligible to feature on Wednesday as he is not on the 25-man competition list.

Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs Young Boys (4-2-2-2)

Goalkeeper

Manchester United’s qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League will allow Ralf Rangnick to rotate his squad on Wednesday. Starting from the goalkeeping department, Dean Henderson could receive a rare start with David de Gea being afforded a night off.

Defence

Aaron Wan-Bissaka returned to the bench on Sunday after missing the 3-2 win over Arsenal due to a hand injury. He could return at right-back in place of Diogo Dalot, who has impressed in the last two league games.

Harry Maguire put in a much better performance against Crystal Palace than he’s done over the last few weeks, but having taken a nasty blow to the head at the weekend he is likely to be rested.

Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs Young Boys

Victor Lindelof should keep his place in central defence after a couple of positive displays. Eric Bailly could be the Swede’s partner at the back against the Swiss opposition. As Luke Shaw is still recovering from a concussion, Alex Telles is expected to keep his place in the Manchester United lineup.

Midfield

Nemanja Matic returned to the bench on Sunday after missing out on the Arsenal game. He will be fresh to start in central midfield against Young Boys. Partnering Matic in central midfield could be Donny Van de Beek, who will be raring to make an impression on the new manager.

Ahead of Matic and Van de Beek, Juan Mata could be handed a rare start. Anthony Elanga will add freshness and pace to the Manchester United attack, as Rangnick eyes his first European victory as the Red Devils manager.

Attack

Mason Greenwood made a positive impact after coming on as a substitute against Patrick Vieira’s side at the weekend and is likely to start upfront to hand Cristiano Ronaldo a rest.

With Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard doubtful and Edinson Cavani still recovering from a tendon problem, Marcus Rashford is expected to be Greenwood’s partner up top against David Wagner’s side.
