Messi, Mbappe and Di Maria in Attack – Team News, Predicted PSG Lineup vs Monaco

PSG will hope to return back to winning ways in Ligue 1 when they host AS Monaco at Parc des Princes on Sunday evening.

The Parisians hold an 11-point advantage at the top of the Ligue 1 table, despite dropping points in the last two games with OGC Nice and Lens respectively.

They did respond emphatically in the Champions League on Tuesday by beating Club Brugge 4-1 at home in their final group-stages game.

On Sunday, Mauricio Pochettino will hope to take all three points against AS Monaco, who come into this fixture off the back of two consecutive wins.

PSG Team News

Regardless of having recently made his Paris Saint-Germain debut, Sergio Ramos has subsequently missed the next three games as Pochettino looks to ease his workload. It is not yet known whether the experienced Spaniard will be able to return to action in time for the game against Monaco.

Rafinha and Julian Draxler still remain out injured, while Neymar has been sidelined for six weeks at least with ankle ligament damage. Meanwhile, Marco Verratti is suspended and will sit out this fixture having collected his fifth Ligue 1 booking of the season in the 1-1 draw with Lens.

Goalkeeper

Gianluigi Donnarumma was in goal in PSG’s 4-1 thrashing of Club Brugge in the Champions League on Tuesday. Pochettino is likely to stick with the big Italian on Sunday.

Achraf Hakimi has been one of the best performers for the Parisians this season and deserves to start against Monaco. He will start at right-back with young Nuno Mendes retaining his place on the other side of the defence. Marquinhos is a certain starter and will partner Presnel Kimpembe at centre-back, as PSG look to keep the Monaco attackers at bay at home.

Midfield

Idrissa Gueye has been a regular fixture in the PSG midfield since the start of the season. The Senegalese is likely to start on Sunday. Ander Herrera could be recalled into the PSG lineup after he came off the bench to help the team win 4-1 against Club Brugge.

Georginio Wijnaldum could benefit from Marco Verratti’s suspension, with the Dutchman raring to impress the manager after finding opportunities hard to come by. He should make the PSG lineup.

Attack

Kylian Mbappe hasn’t been at his sublime best this term, yet goals have continued flowing by for him with the Frenchman netting a brace against Club Brugge. With Neymar injured, Mbappe is certain to start on the left flank with Angel Di Maria providing creativity from the other wing in the PSG lineup.

Lionel Messi, arguably the world’s greatest player, will be keen to get on the score sheet and help the Parisians to all three points at home against Monaco.
