Matchday 11: Top 5 Players To Impress Including Two Chelsea Youngsters & Man City Star| Opinion

West Ham United’s impressive 3-2 win over Liverpool may have stolen the headlines from the action in the Premier League this past weekend, but there were a number of other solid individual performances across the spectrum.

League leaders Chelsea were frustratingly held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley, while Manchester City convincingly won the derby bragging rights against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Despite Norwich City winning their first league game of the season, manager Daniel Farke was sacked.

Arsenal continued their new-found rich vein of form with a 1-0 home win over Watford on Sunday.

Without further delay, let’s take a look at the Top 5 players from Matchday 11 of the Premier League.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Callum Hudson-Odoi was handed another start by Thomas Tuchel and he repaid the manager’s faith with an eye-catching display against Burnley at Stamford Bridge, even though the flashy winger didn’t get the goal or assist the team needed to win all three points.

The 21-year-old was heavily involved in some of the best football of the season the Blues played in the first half on Saturday. He was a threat in the final third throughout the afternoon, terrorising the Burnley backline with his pace, dribbling skills and movement.

Callum Hudson-Odoi had a great chance to seal the win for Chelsea but Nick Pope denied him with his legs. All in all, it was another fine performance from the youngster that’ll lift his spirits after a slow individual start to the season.

Nick Pope

In fairness, Chelsea deserved all three points against Burnley as they dominated from start to finish, and Sean Dyche had Nick Pope to thank for his team earning a point at Stamford Bridge.

Nick Pope, 29, made two top saves from Callum Hudson-Odoi and Jorginho in the opening 10 minutes of the game. He also kept out a deflected shot from Reece James with his leg before the break.

The England international was at his best in west London, demonstrating why he is rated as one of the best goalkeepers in the country.

Bernardo Silva

Manchester City were dominant from start to finish in the Manchester derby as they beat Manchester United with ease and poise at Old Trafford. It could have been an embarrassing scoreline for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s troops, if not for some brilliant goalkeeping by David de Gea.

One of Manchester City’s stars of the show on in Matchday 11 was Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese, 27, strutting all over the pitch, was unplayable at Old Trafford as he wriggled past Man United players and linked with his teammates with so much comfort.

Silva capped his dazzling display by scoring his third goal at Old Trafford in four seasons. Irresistible and untouchable at the moment!

Kurt Zouma

Kurt Zouma starred as West Ham stunned Liverpool with a 3-2 win at London Stadium in Matchday 11.

The French centre-back marshalled the West Ham backline well and kept Liverpool’s front three relatively quiet for the majority of the evening. He looked confident on the ball and made a couple of vital interceptions for David Moyes’ side.

Zouma scored West Ham’s third and winning goal with a powerful header past Alisson off of Jarrod Bowen’s corner, thereby, ending Liverpool’s 25-game unbeaten run at the weekend.

Conor Gallagher

Conor Gallagher is enjoying time on loan at Crystal Palace from Chelsea and was at the heart of the club’s impressive 2-0 win over Wolves in Matchday 11.

The English midfielder, 21, has been a shining light for Patrick Vieira’s side this season, catching the eye with his work rate, tenacity, passing skills and goal-scoring ability. He extended his sizzling goal-scoring run by netting past the hapless Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa.

Wolves had no way of containing Gallagher, as the young midfielder continues to be a revelation at Crystal Palace.
