Chelsea will look to bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League when they travel to the King Power Stadium to play Leicester City today.
The Blues were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Burnley at Stamford Bridge before the international break, which ended their sequence of five successive wins in the Premier League.
Thomas Tuchel, whose side leads the way at the top of the Premier League table, will be confident of getting a positive result at East Midlands.
Romelu Lukaku and Mateo Kovacic have been ruled out of the game and will remain big absentees.
Mason Mount withdrew from the England camp after failing to recover from a tooth surgery in time. But he has returned to training and is pushing for a start even though the manager raised doubts on his ability to feature for the full 90 minutes.
Timo Werner limped off the pitch against Malmo in the Champions League and even though he has returned to training, there are considerable doubts on his chances of starting in the Chelsea lineup.
Goalkeeper
Chelsea conceding just four goals in 11 games is largely down to their goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. The Senegalese is a certainty to start against the Foxes.
Defence
Thiago Silva didn’t play for Brazil, but is not a sure shot starter any more. Cesar Azpilicueta could get a game if the Brazilian is rested on the basis of accumulation of air miles in the latest international break.
Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger could complete the 3-man backline in the Chelsea lineup.
The Blues’ defensive trio will be wary of Leicester City’s counter-attacking prowess and will have a huge task at hand of keeping Jamie Vardy quiet.
Reece James and Ben Chilwell offer a lot in terms of attacking output while being defensively sound from the wing-back positions. The English duo is set to retain their places in Tuchel’s starting XI.
Midfield
With Mateo Kovacic still out, N’Golo Kante is a certain starter. But we could see Jorginho rested for the clash having started 5 games for both club and country in the last 17 days.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek, in that case, will get the nod to start in the Chelsea lineup.
Attack
We could continue seeing a fresh looking Chelsea attack with uncertainty regarding a number of players. We are backing Mason Mount to be handed a start alongside the in-form Callum Hudson-Odoi. The attack will be completed by the young German Kai Havertz who will be keen to get on the scoresheet having done so against Burnley in their last game.
