James Up Top – Team News, Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Leicester City

Leeds United will look to make it two Premier League wins on the bounce when they welcome Leicester City at Elland Road on Sunday.

The Whites ended their two-game winless run last weekend by beating Norwich City 2-1. However, they still remain two points above the relegation zone.

Marcelo Bielsa will expect a better performance from his boys against a Leicester City side coming off the back of a 1-1 draw with Spartak Moscow in the Europa League on Thursday.

Leeds United Team News

Leeds United will be once again without the injured trio of Luke Ayling, Robin Koch and Patrick Bamford. Both Jamie Shackleton and Junior Firpo will be assessed on Saturday before a decision is taken over their involvement.

Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Leicester City (3-3-3-1)

Goalkeeper

Illan Meslier has conceded 17 goals in 10 games this season, so he’ll be hoping to do better in goal on Sunday and keep a clean-sheet.

Defence

Marcelo Bielsa is likely to stick with the back three that should comprise Diego Llorente, Liam Cooper and Pascal Struijk. The trio will have to be at their very best to keep Jamie Vardy and co. at bay at Elland Road.

Midfield

The Whites’ utility man, Stuart Dallas will start on the left of midfield three in the Leeds United lineup. Jamie Shackleton started against Norwich City but his availability on Sunday remains doubtful, which could see Bielsa go with Mateusz Klich on the right of a midfield three.

Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Leicester City

Kalvin Phillips hasn’t been at his best this season but he continues to be a key cog in Bielsa’s system. The England international’s energy, passing ability and defensive prowess make him a sure-shot starter in the Leeds midfield.

Attack

Raphinha is the most in-form Leeds player who could have a big say in this fixture. The tricky Brazilian, who scored in the last game at Norwich, will look to cause all kinds of problems to the shaky Leicester City backline with his pace, dribbling skills and unpredictability.

Jack Harrison started up front against Norwich but failed to deliver the goods. This could see him being moved back to his original post on the left in the Leeds United lineup.

Daniel James is yet to make a big impact for his new club but Sunday’s game would offer him a great chance to show his true value to the Elland Road faithful. His explosive pace could come in handy during transitions for Bielsa’s side. With Bamford still out, Bielsa could try out the Welshman upfront on Sunday.

A goal against Norwich would have given Rodrigo some much-needed confidence and he is likely to start in the hole behind James against Brendan Rodgers’ side.
