Arsenal Player Ratings vs Leicester City – Smith Rowe and Gabriel Shine in First Half Blitz

Arsenal extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to nine with a hard-fought 2-0 win at Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Gunners got off to a flying start, with Gabriel and Emile Smith Rowe putting them 2-o up inside 18 minutes. Leicester grew in strength as the match progressed but they were denied time and again by an inspired Aaron Ramsdale.

The result lifted Arsenal provisionally up to fifth on 17 points, while Leicester remained 10th on 14. On that note, here’s a look at how the Arsenal players fared on their trip to the King Power Stadium:

Arsenal player ratings vs Leicester City

Aaron Ramsdale – 9/10

Ramsdale has proven to be a revelation in the Arsenal goal since his arrival in the summer. The England keeper made a string of stunning saves, including one late in the first half off a James Maddison free-kick, to keep Leicester at bay. His distribution was not at its best though and he gave away possession quite a few times.

Takehiro Tomiyasu – 7/10

Defended the threat of Luke Thomas quite well. Was a bit nervy in possession and often cleared his lines instead of trying to pick out a teammate.

Gabriel – 8/10

Scored Arsenal’s opener with a tremendous header. Was also extremely solid at the back, making a number of crucial blocks and a team-high seven clearances.

Ben White – 7/10

White is finally showing signs of why Arsenal made him the most expensive defender in the club’s history. He carried the ball out of pressure on a number of occasions and helped Arsenal play out from the back. Did commit a few fouls in dangerous areas though.

Nuno Tavares – 7/10

Filling in for the injured Kieran Tierney, Tavares put in another solid performance. He looked a major threat going forward and did not shirk his defensive responsibilities.

Thomas Partey – 7/10

Helped Arsenal dominate the midfield in the early stages of the game. Partey broke up a number of Leicester attacks and also played a key role in Arsenal’s transition from defence to attack, especially in the second goal.

Albert Sambi Lokonga – 6/10

Put in another tidy display in the middle of the park although his distribution was not always on point.

Emile Smith Rowe – 8/10

Emile Smith Rowe is continuing to develop in leaps and bounds. The young Englishman got on the scoresheet once again with a tidy finish in the 18th minute. He also made some intelligent runs to keep the Leicester defenders on their toes.

Bukayo Saka – 7/10

Started the game brightly and provided the assist for Arsenal’s opener. Faded as the match progressed.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 7/10

Made a few intelligent runs and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet as his effort from close range was brilliantly kept out by Kasper Schmeichel.

Alexandre Lacazette – 7/10

Provided plenty of energy in the first half and linked up well with the likes of Smith Rowe, Aubameyang and Saka. Was replaced by Martin Odegaard in the 58th minute as Arsenal looked to gain more control in midfield.

Substitutes

Martin Odegaard – 5/10

With Arsenal being overrun in midfield, Odegaard replaced Lacazette near the hour mark as Arteta looked to regain control. However, the Norwegian did not really impact the game.

Nicolas Pepe – NA

Replaced Bukayo Saka towards the closing stages of the match and hardly got a touch of the ball.

Sead Kolasinac – NA

Brought on for Smith Rowe in stoppage time and did not have enough time to make an impact.
