Liverpool have reportedly made recent enquiries for Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi.
Formerly of SpVgg Unterhaching youth academy, Karim Adeyemi, 19, has enjoyed rollicking success since joining Red Bull Salzburg in 2018. After being involved in 16 league goals last term, the teenage prodigy is in for a big breakthrough this campaign and has already bagged 11 goals and two assists in 16 games across all competitions.
He made his debut for the senior German national side in a 6–0 rout of Armenia in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture last month, coming off the bench as a late substitute and scoring his side’s sixth goal in injury time.
According to Sky Germany, Liverpool are among the multiple European clubs to have expressed an interest in signing RB Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi. The report adds that the forward is set to leave the Austrian outfit next summer for a fee in the region of €35-€40 million, with Bundesliga trio Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig already knocking the door for his services.
Karim Adeyemi to Liverpool—A future investment for the Reds?
After a trophyless last season, Liverpool seem to be back in their groove this term with forwards Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota linking up very well and scoring goals.
Mohamed Salah, in particular, is breathing fire and is the in-form player in Europe at the moment. Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota are also chipping in with valuable contributions, but Roberto Firmino’s massive dip in form in recent times and the likes of Divock Origi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s lack of productivity off the bench should prompt Jurgen Klopp to sign a forward next year.
In that regard, RB Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi would fit the bill perfectly at Anfield. Adeyemi is a highly-rated young talent who is already turning heads in Europe with his goal-scoring exploits at Salzburg. A centre-forward by trade, he can also play on both flanks and influence a game with his speed, dribbling skills, link-up play and movement.
In Liverpool, Adeyemi would have all the necessary requirements to develop into a top player. Jurgen Klopp, who is known for nurturing young talent and moulding them into future superstars, can also be decisive in the recently-capped Germany international’s development. The teenager may not be an immediate starter for the Reds and will most probably be eased into the side by Klopp if a move goes through in January.
Karim Adeyemi can develop himself as a perfect striker and his versatility to play anywhere across the frontline would be of huge value to Liverpool. With the Merseyside outfit facing the prospect of losing both Salah and Mane during the Africa Cup of Nations this winter, Klopp must try refreshing his attacking options by making a move for the Salzburg hotshot during the January transfer window.
