Strongest 4-3-3 Liverpool Lineup Ft. Diogo Jota and Thiago – Sadio Mane Misses Out

After a relatively quiet transfer window, Liverpool will hope their key players stay fit throughout the 2021-22 season to challenge for trophies.

The Reds has a challenging 2020-21 season as they lost several players to long-term injuries, and had to rally late to finish top three in the Premier League table.

Liverpool might not have a similar injury crisis this season, but their rivals have strengthened and there are fears that their playing XI may have already peaked.

It will be up to Jürgen Klopp to get the best out of his squad once again as the German is known for his man-management.

Let’s take a look at the strongest possible Liverpool lineup this season:

Strongest possible Liverpool Lineup for the 2021-22 season

Goalkeeper

Alisson Becker should be the first choice, The Liverpool custodian is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and is expected to play a key role with his shot-stopping ability as well as organising the defence.

Defence

The first three games have seen Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip start as the two centre-halves. We expect van Dijk to keep his place when fit, but the duo of Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate could push Matip in the coming months.

Matip’s ability to play the ball out from the back and aerial prowess means he keeps his place in the strongest lineup.

Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are two of the best full-backs in the league, and should be the first choice.

Midfield

Gini Wijnaldum’s departure has left a spot in the Liverpool midfield. The Dutchman was one of the fittest players and hence played regularly for Liverpool.

Jürgen Klopp has several midfielders at his disposal, and the most obvious choice to replace Wijnaldum is Thiago Alcantara.

The Spaniard has an injury-affected debut season, but is expected to play a bigger role this season. His passing and ability to split open tight defences will be crucial this season.

Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are the other two midfielders who are expected to line up in midfield. Fabinho should play as the deepest midfielder, with Henderson and Thiago occupying positions beside him.

Attack

Mohamed Salah has started the season well, and should keep his place on the right. He is perhaps the only player who hasn’t let his performance levels dip in the last season or so.

With Sadio Mane yet to really recapture his old form, Diogo Jota makes our strongest lineup on the left. Roberto Firmino should play in the false nine role. Klopp has the option of using Jota in a central role and Mane on the left as well.
