What Can We Expect From The Promoted Teams In The EPL This Year?

The English Premier League is arguably the most popular domestic soccer competition on the planet. Full of goals, drama and action, it has some of the most well-known teams battling it out each week. There are also plenty of top players to keep an eye on in the EPL – from Harry Kane to Cristiano Ronaldo, Raheem Sterling and Romelu Lukaku. Although looking at how established EPL clubs such as Chelsea perform is fun, it is also worth looking at how the three teams promoted from the Championship in 2020/21 might fare.

A good place to start is looking at sports betting analysis online. This can help you get an idea of what odds the newly promoted teams have to stay in the EPL and any breaking news around this. As a result, it enables you to get an idea of what other people who follow soccer closely think about their chances of success. If you also like to bet on soccer, checking out this type of analysis can help to boost your bottom line. By looking at analysis of games, how the newly promoted teams are performing and what reputable sports betting analysis sites think, you can use this to your beef up your own soccer betting.

If you are looking to get a brief overview of how the new boys in the EPL might perform though, we run through it below.

Norwich City

If you are a Norwich City fan, then it was a sweet feeling to bounce straight back into the EPL after a year’s hiatus. This confidence seems to be wearing thin already though after a poor start to 2021/22.

But what could we expect from Norwich over the rest of the campaign? On the evidence of what we have seen so far, it could be tough going. Manager Daniel Farke seems to be making the same mistakes as the last time he managed Norwich in the EPL. His team are too easy to play against, too easy to score against and have trouble keeping it tight at the back. In addition to a soft-centered defense, they also lack real steel and competitiveness in midfield.

However, it is not all doom and gloom for this newly promoted team. Teemu Pukki is a source of goals and could help fire them up the table – if fit and on form. Although the sale of Emi Buendia was a loss, there is young talent like Max Aarons and Todd Cantwell to turn to. If Farke can toughen his team up and vary his tactics when needed, it could get better for Norwich.

Watford

Another side who bounced straight back into the EPL for 2021/22 is Watford. But what are Watford’s chances of success in the 2021/22 season? They had a great start to the campaign with a 3-2 home win over Aston Villa but have since slumped to a couple of away defeats. This could signify the team is more effective at home and needs to take as many points as possible from these games.

The recent departure of club icon Troy Deeney could also spell trouble for the team moving ahead, as he not only had EPL experience but seemed to really bring everyone together. Manager Xisco Munoz is another worry because he does not have experience managing in the top-flight. On the plus side, the Hornets do have some great attacking players in Sarr and Dennis, plus that wily old pro Danny Rose to help organize their backline.

Brentford

Although fans always want to talk about things which affect top clubs, like how Ronaldo will fit into Man Utd’s team, Brentford could soon be on everyone’s lips too. They have enjoyed a steady start and can reflect on a win plus two draws from their first three games.

They have an aggressive, punchy and intense style of play which seems perfect for the EPL. While they play attacking soccer, they also have a real toughness to back it up. Frank is also a very capable manager who is tactically astute and willing to be flexible in his approach. When you also add in that Brentford has Ivan Toney to score goals, Christian Norgaard to stop them and a good squad, it looks promising for them.

Newly promoted teams will be interesting to watch

As the above shows, each of the newly promoted teams has something different to offer the EPL. While all three would surely just be glad to stay in the league come season-end, stellar form as the campaign unfolds may even see them challenging for a European place.
