Liverpool Could Revive Interest In West Ham Attacker: Ideal Option For Klopp??

Liverpool could revive their interest in West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen in the January transfer window after missing out on his signature in the summer, if reports are to be believed.

Despite enduring a trophyless last season and finishing a staggering 17 points off champions Manchester City, the Reds were relatively quiet in the transfer window as they managed to make just one signing in defender Ibrahima Konate. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side have already been linked with a few names ahead of the January transfer window.

One of those is Jarrod Bowen, with the Liverpool Echo reporting that Liverpool may move for the fleet-footed wide-man should he continue to impress for David Moyes’ West Ham.

Since joining the Hammers from Hull City for around £20 million back in January 2020, Bowen, 24, has been a real hit at the London Stadium with his pace, work rate, energy and pressing. He featured in all 38 league games last season, registering eight goals and five assists and helping David Moyes’ side qualify for the Europa League.

While he is yet to score or assist this season, Bowen has been terrific and seems to have taken his game to another level. The 24-year-old produced two eye-catching displays across the past week in West Ham’s two clashes against Manchester United, proving to be a real threat on and off the ball for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Jarrod Bowen to Liverpool—What will he bring to Jurgen Klopp’s side?

Liverpool’s front three are branded as one of the best troikas across European football. The blistering pace of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah on either wing along with the guile and smart movement of Roberto Firmino have wreaked havoc against almost every team they’ve faced in recent years.

However, Firmino’s form has massively dipped over the last 12-18 months with Diogo Jota seemingly replacing the Brazilian in Klopp’s preferred XI. And with Mane and Salah nearing their 30’s and no real game-changers on the bench, it would make sense for Klopp to freshen up his attacking options next year.

In that regard, the Reds must target Jarrod Bowen. The West Ham attacker is a quick, nippy, unpredictable and industrious player who can play anywhere across the front-line. He is basically a right-winger but can also lead the attack with the same efficiency, as witnessed by his performances against Manchester United of late, and such versatility will only appeal to Klopp.

The Englishman works really hard off the ball, presses from the front and harries and hassles the defenders—qualities which make him a perfect fit for Klopp’s system at Anfield. Having proven himself at West Ham, Bowen is at the right age to make the step up to a bigger club and a move to Liverpool would simply be perfect. He could improve the different facets of his game under the watchful guidance of Klopp and fulfill his massive potential, whilst bringing real competition to keep Salah and Mane on their toes.

As Jarrod Bowen is under contract at West Ham until the summer of 2025, Liverpool will need to splash a lot of cash to lure him away to Anfield in January.
