3 Changes With Debut For New Signing: 4-2-3-1 Man United Predicted XI vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Manchester United travel to Wolves on Sunday where they will hope to get back to winning ways. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men disappointingly drew against Southampton last weekend as they could not continue their free-scoring ways.

Wolves have been tricky opponents for the Red Devils over the years, but they will be expected to win following their big-money signings as well as Wolves’ poor start to the season. United have won two and drawn two of their last four Premier League encounters with the Black Country outfit.

Let’s take a look at the possible Man United lineup against Wolves.

Early Team News

Marcus Rashford has returned to the club following a successful shoulder operation but is still a long way from getting involved in first-team activities.

Edinson Cavani has also returned to training and could make the bench for the game against Wolves. Defenders Alex Telles, Eric Bailly, and Phil Jones will all be unavailable for Sunday’s game, while goalkeeper Dean Henderson is still recovering from the after-effects of COVID.

Manchester United revealed on Thursday that Scott McTominay underwent a groin surgery which will keep him out for a while.

Goalkeeper

David de Gea, who made a vital save against the Saints, will start in between the sticks in the Man United lineup.

Defence

Manchester United were less than impressive against Southampton, especially when playing out from the back. Solskjaer could give Raphael Varane his Manchester United debut at Wolves. The former Real Madrid defender will replace Victor Lindelof and likely feature alongside captain Harry Maguire in the Man United lineup.

Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka should continue at left-back and right-back, respectively.

Midfield

Fred and Nemanja Matic started in midfield last weekend and they did not do a good job of holding on to the ball. Fred, especially, gave away the ball plenty of times but Solskjaer may persist with him to combat the lively and energetic Wolves midfield. The United manager, though, could replace Matic with either Paul Pogba or van de Beek in midfield. van de Beek’s energy, quick passing and pressing could get the nod over Pogba, who doesn’t offer much defensively.

Bruno Fernandes should start in the No. 10 role in the Man United lineup.

Attack

Jadon Sancho, who was also a second-half substitute last weekend, could start on the right in the Man United lineup. He could replace Anthony Martial in the starting XI, with Mason Greenwood moving upfront. Paul Pogba should start off the left for United if he’s not moved centrally.

Daniel James’ work rate and speed could be used out wide if Pogba is moved to central midfield. Jesse Lingard is another option for Solskjaer in the No. 10 or wide left role.
