Chelsea are interested in bringing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham back to England. The teenage sensation had a superb first season with the German club following his move from Birmingham City last year.
As per Daily Star, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has had a keen look at Bellingham and sees him as an alternative to West Ham United’s Declan Rice. The Blues could make a move for the 18-year-old if they sell a few of their fringe players in this transfer window.
Jude Bellingham was signed by Dortmund for around £25 million last summer, and his good performances earned him a call-up to the England senior team. The Englishman has four years remaining on his current deal at the club.
Jude Bellingham: A good long-term option for Chelsea?
Jude Bellingham is a youngster with immense talent and a huge ceiling for improvement. The Dortmund midfielder has all the qualities to be a world-class player in the future. Bellingham is a lanky, towering midfielder who has the flair, confidence and dribbling ability to make things happen in the final third, while he is also a reliable player defensively for his side.
The midfielder likes to advance with the ball from the middle of the park, and has the vision and ability to put in clever passes for his attacking teammates. He has also shown great maturity defensively, which makes him an all-round midfielder.
Bellingham would be a good fit in several elite clubs in Europe as he is young, innovative, and is ready to make an impact now and in the long-term as well. The English midfielder would be a fantastic signing for Chelsea, who seem to be on the up under manager Thomas Tuchel.
The Blues have three fantastic midfielders in N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho, as well as a young player with great potential in Billy Gilmour, who is currently on loan at Norwich City. N’Golo Kante has turned 30 and even though he is not showing any signs of slowing down, expecting the Frenchman to keep performing for the entire jampacked season will not be fair on the part of the team management.
But, the addition of Bellingham would bring something different to the Chelsea team as he has speed, flair and fantastic dribbling ability, which Chelsea currently don’t have in their squad.
The Englishman is also a generational talent, who could be a key player for the Blues for a decade or more. Chelsea should make a move this summer as the other big teams in Europe could have more spending power next summer which could result in the Premier League side losing out on signing Bellingham. The signing of Bellingham would be a huge statement of intent by Chelsea and would add fantastic depth to Tuchel’s squad.
