Chelsea are eyeing a major summer swoop for Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish.
The 25-year old had another superb season with the Villans, scoring six goals and assisting 10 times in 26 league games. Without a doubt, Grealish is one of the brightest talents in the Premier League and he is bound to light up the league next campaign. According to a report from Football Insider, Chelsea have a “concrete interest” in bringing Jack Grealish to Stamford Bridge this summer. Thomas Tuchel is preparing to bolster his squad in a bid to win the coveted Premier League title.
The Blues are flying high on confidence after winning the Champions League last season. The German tactician turned the club’s fortunes around after taking over from the struggling Frank Lampard. And the Chelsea hierarchy seem ready to back their manager in the transfer market as well.
Jack Grealish- Dream signing for Chelsea?
From what we have seen so far, Jack Grealish is the type of player who cannot be boxed into a strict category of teams he will fit into. The level of his talent means the player will be a prized asset in almost all the big clubs around Europe.
He is not afraid of getting tackled or fouled. In fact, his clever tricks draw opponents from their lines which creates space for his teammates to make runs. He possesses a great vision to create goal-scoring opportunities, something he has done with aplomb even at a club like Aston Villa with limited resources.
The Aston Villa skipper predominantly features on the left side of the attack but can operate in a no.10 role as well.
He may not have electrifying pace but his clever passing and dribbling skills are second to none. The attacking midfielder made his first start of Euro 2020 against the Czech Republic and showed why Gareth Southgate needs to start him in every game. His lovely floated cross was met by Raheem Sterling’s head which helped England to finish at the apex of Group D.
Jack Grealish was the target of only 32 passes last night against #CZE
Out of players who played at least 60 minutes, only Jordan Pickford received less passes (30)

Having two creative players like Jack Grealish and Mason Mount in one team is a dream for any manager. Tuchel will be delighted if the Blues can sign the English superstar. However, it will also be interesting to see how the former PSG manager sets his team up. He has preferred a formation of 3-4-2-1 in his first six months at Stamford Bridge.
If the two young English attackers play behind a top-class striker, Chelsea will score goals for fun. But Tuchel’s predecessor also splashed the cash to sign a host of top-class talent for a lot of money and the board will not be keen on discarding such players so early on. The likes of Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, and Christian Pulisic are superstars in their own right and will rightly demand a regular role in the first team.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are also keen to acquire the services of the Aston Villa man which means any bidding war will only increase Grealish’s already astronomical evaluation of £100m.
Given the above factors, it will be interesting to see whether Chelsea go in strong for Jack Grealish or focus their attention on a couple of other areas on the pitch which need closer attention.
