Moyes Expects Interest In West Ham Star: 3 Potential Destinations Including Chelsea| Opinion

West Ham United are having a stunning season and one of the reasons behind their success is the form of Tomas Soucek. The Hammers signed the Czech midfielder in the summer of 2020 on a four-year deal for a fee of around £19 million. After 9 months of Premier League football, it can be said that Tomas Soucek has been one of the best summer signings of last year.

West Ham are currently in fourth place separated from Chelsea by a point. The Hammers are making a very strong statement for European football qualification this season. If they can keep up their form, they will surely be a part of it. Soucek has featured in every Premier League game for West Ham this season (29) and scored nine goals. That is an amazing return considering he is a defensive midfielder. In fact, his nine goals have earned him the tag of West Ham’s top scorer this season.

In a recent interview, David Moyes accepted that West Ham will consider only big offers for Tomas Soucek. This has alerted many clubs who are looking to sign the former Slavia Prague midfielder.

Let’s see which are the three clubs that can potentially make a move for him.

Chelsea

Chelsea have been linked with Declan Rice since last summer. The 22-year old midfielder is touted for big things in the future. West Ham have made it clear that they won’t sell their most prized asset until their valuation of the player is met.

In this case, Chelsea could move for Rice’s teammate, Tomas Soucek. He will provide them with the security at the back which lacks when Jorginho and Kovačić pair up in the midfield. The Blues’ defensive midfield is too dependent on Kante and thus, Soucek, with his goalscoring prowess, will add another dimension to their midfield.

Manchester United

Solskjaer has a lot of options in the midfield but it does not mean that he should give up the opportunity to strengthen his squad even further. Tomas Soucek has a knack for scoring goals and is also disciplined enough to return to his defensive duties when needed.

Nemanja Matic will turn 33 this year and it will be tough for him to perform continuously at the top level. He is defensively robust but lacks pace. Also, Matic does not contribute much in the forward play and lacks the vision to distribute the ball from deep midfield. Tomas Soucek can be the perfect replacement for Nemanja Matic with more legs and technical ability.

Real Madrid

According to the Sun, the Spanish giants, Real Madrid, are said to be the front-runners to land Tomas Soucek next season. Los Blancos have some big names like Toni Kroos and Casemiro in the defensive midfield. Still, it seems like Soucek’s debut season in England has really impressed Zinedine Zidane.

Standing with a 6’2″ frame, Soucek will add another dimension to Real Madrid’s attack. He will be a very useful asset during set pieces and help them score a lot of goals. The Czech player is defensively robust and will surely help Real Madrid shore up their midfield. Zidane’s men have failed to dominate in the centre of the pitch against many teams this season. Thus, adding a new player to their squad will surely give the manager more options to choose from.
