Arsenal Target £43m Rated Serie A Fullback: Why Mikel Arteta Should Get A Move On

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta seems to have made his plans clear for the summer transfer window. He wants to improve the full-back positions, especially the right-back.  Hector Bellerin’s contract runs until 2023 and it seems that the club might cash in on him if the player decides against signing an extension at the end of the season.

The manager has rotated his options recently handing starts to the likes of Cedric Soares and Callum Chambers but is still not convinced with the players at his disposal.

This has led to the club scouting for potential recruitments in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to reports, the latest player to have popped up on the radar of the London club is Achraf Hakimi. Hakimi is one of the top-rated right-backs in Europe. As per Daily Mail, Inter Milan have put a price tag of £43 million on the 22-year old.

Achraf Hakimi: Is he a good option?

Arsenal have lacked quality and consistency all across the board for quite some time now. They have changed tactics and managers and have spent money but the results have not been seen consistently on the pitch. Arteta did manage an FA Cup upset last season but that’s about it.

The club, however, seem determined to back the Frenchman who hasn’t managed any significant improvement in the team’s performances yet. He has overseen the rise to prominence of the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka but the senior pros in the team have carried on their topsy-turvy displays.

If the club wants to move in the right direction, they will need to spend a lot in the summer transfer window. They need a creative midfielder, striker, and a full-back before the start of the next season if the Gunners are to compete with the likes of Chelsea and Leicester City for a top 4 spot.

The availability of Achraf Hakimi is something that Arsenal should consider seriously.

So far this season, Hakimi has six goals and four assists. He is a strong player with impressive technical attributes and is ahead of the current Arsenal options in that respect. He will be the type of player that Arteta can rely on. He is a tireless operator who can run throughout the 90 minutes up and down the right flank. He is a powerhouse with excellent offensive ability as well as defensive stability.

He is just 22 years old and has a lot to offer in his career. If Arsenal can nab a place in Europe next season, which seems difficult now, he can be convinced to join the Arteta project at the Emirates.

This could be a huge transfer considering the future of the club. Achraf Hakimi will add to the exciting number of exceptional right-backs playing in the Premier League. And along with the help of a couple of further additions, make sure Arsenal regain their foothold near the top of the table.
