Manchester United are ready and raring to host the 183rd Manchester Derby tonight.
The Red Devils are smarting from an early Champions League exit but will not be found wanting for motivation against fierce local rivals Manchester City.
And contrary to topical mood, United are actually going into this game as slight favourites. They are ahead of City in the Premier League table having won their last 4 games. Ole also beat Pep 3 times out of 4 last season and will go for all 3 points tonight.
TEAM NEWS
Edinson Cavani did not travel with the squad to The Lowry Hotel and is unlikely to play a part.
In a huge boost, Anthony Martial is back with the team and will be involved according to Ole. Fred is available after serving his European ban and Ole could do with his fresh legs in the Man United lineup.
PREDICTED MAN UNITED LINEUP vs MANCHESTER CITY (4-2-3-1)
DEFENCE
The pressure is mounting on David de Gea after yet another underwhelming display against RB Leipzig. Dean Henderson had thrown his hat in the ring a while back but might have to wait a bit longer for a regular run in the team.
De Gea is still no.1 and should start in goal.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka had a poor outing in the Champions League but will retain his place at right-back. He has successfully nullified Raheem Sterling’s threat in the past and will be backed to do more of the same by his manager.
Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire will be the central defensive pairing in the Man United lineup.
Alex Telles is likely to sit this one out with the more balanced Luke Shaw getting a start.
MIDFIELD
Ole is likely to opt for a more conservative midfield to deal with the attacking threat of Manchester City.
We could see the well-rested Fred partner Scott McTominay in the double-pivot. Nemanja Matic is another option.
Bruno Fernandes is a nailed-on starter and will play in the No.10 role if Ole opts for the 4-2-3-1 formation.
ATTACK
Mason Greenwood should get a start on the right in the Man United lineup.
Marcus Rashford will start and it is likely to be on the left-wing. Anthony Martial, if passed fit, will spearhead the attack and will look to get on the scoresheet as soon as possible after an underwhelming start to the season.
