Van de Beek to Start: Predicted 4-4-2 Manchester United Lineup vs Everton

After a poor performance against Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League on Wednesday, the pressure will be on Manchester United when they face Everton on Saturday at Goodison Park. The Red Devils have lost back-to-back games, first losing to Arsenal over the weekend and to Basaksehir more recently.

Manchester United are 15th in the Premier League table, having taken just seven points from the opening six games of the season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are closer to the bottom three than the top three on the table.

They will have their task cut out when they face Everton, who will be itching to get back on the winning track after losing their last two games.

Manchester United Team News

Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are still out due to injury, while Alex Telles is yet to recover from COVID-19. Jesse Lingard is closing in on a return to the first team.

Victor Lindelof had a slight back niggle and couldn’t come on in the game against Basaksehir but should be fit for Saturday’s game.

Let’s take a look at the possible Manchester United squad for the game against Everton:

Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs Everton

Goalkeeper

David de Gea should return to the Manchester United lineup in place of Dean Henderson, who made his Champions League debut on Wednesday.

Defence

Axel Tuanzebe made just his second start of the season on Wednesday, but was hooked off at half-time. He may not start the game against Everton as Victor Lindelof could take his place in the Manchester United lineup.

Harry Maguire was woeful against Istanbul Basaksehir, but the Manchester United captain seems to be irreplaceable in the team. He should play again on Saturday.

Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka should start at left-back and right-back, respectively, but if Telles passes his COVID test in time for the Everton game, he could be an option for Solskjaer.

Midfield

It’s difficult to predict the formation that Solskjaer could use as he changes them often. He seems to now prefer to play the diamond formation, which he could employ once again.

Fred and Scott McTominay should start in midfield, while Donny van de Beek could get a start in midfield ahead of Paul Pogba. Bruno Fernandes should continue in the No. 10 position.

Attack

It will be interesting to see if Solskjaer plays Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford up top or if the young Mason Greenwood gets a start.

Martial could be an option off the bench, while Edinson Cavani could add a different dimension to the attack if he makes the Manchester United lineup.
