Arsenal linked with a move for exciting Brazilian striker: Smashing option for Arteta

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Brazilian centre-forward Brenner from Sao Paulo. The 20-year-old forward is an exciting talent who has taken Brazilian football by storm, scoring 15 goals in 26 appearances in all competitions this season.

As per Calcio Mercato, the Gunners are one of many teams interested in signing Brenner. The likes of PSG, Ajax, and Italian clubs Lazio, Juventus and AC Milan are also interested in signing the 20-year-old. Brenner has come through the ranks at the Brazilian club, making his debut in 2017. He was loaned out to Fluminese last season but has become an important player for Sao Paulo grabbing his opportunities really well.

Brenner has two years remaining on his current deal at the Brazilian club.

Brenner: What will he add to the team?

Brenner is yet another exciting player to come out of Brazil, thanks to his superb finishing ability, as well as his knack for getting into good positions in the box. He also likes to drop deep and run at opposition defences and shoot at every given opportunity, while also not shying from passing to his teammates to create better chances.

The striker is a hard-working player who can run the channels and feed balls into the box, as well as press the opposition defenders. Brenner has also been played out wide on the left, cutting into the central areas with his stronger right foot, while he has briefly played as a second striker as well.

The 20-year-old has all the attributes to develop further into a decent player in the Premier League with his speed, vision, and good finishing ability. If Brenner signs with Arsenal, he will most likely be a squad player to push the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and youngster Eddie Nketiah. Brenner has shown great promise and ability in just the current season, hence it is early to predict whether he could replace either of the three first-team strikers that Arsenal currently have in the coming season.

Arsenal have several options in the wide left role as well with the likes of Aubameyang, Bukayo Saka, and the injured Gabriel Martinelli. Brenner could be an option for the Gunners as an impact substitute if one of the Gunners’ first-choice strikers leaves the club.

But having a young and dynamic option to deploy up front will be something Arteta will want to have. The Gunners have looked bereft of ideas when in possession of the ball at times, extinguishing most of their energy in maintaining a compact shape and covering any gaps.

An element of unpredictability will come as a boost even if not as an immediate solution to their goal-scoring woes.
