Arsenal came from behind to register a win against Rapid Vienna on Thursday night in the Europa League. The Gunners will now have to turn their attention to the Premier League where they face off against Leicester City on Sunday night.
The two sides are level on points, having won three and lost two, and also have identical goal difference. The Gunners lost to Manchester City last weekend in the Premier League, narrowly losing 1-0. Arsenal have struggled against the Foxes in the recent past, losing three of their last five Premier League games against Leicester.
Let’s take a look at the possible Arsenal lineup for the game against Leicester City.
Team News: Several of Arsenal’s first-team players are out due to injury. Calum Chambers, Pablo Mari, Gabriel Martinelli, and Rob Holding will miss this weekend’s game. Willian and Dani Ceballos will both have late fitness tests, and the duo also missed Thursday’s game. Shkodran Mustafi is back in contention for a spot in the Arsenal backline.
Bernd Leno should continue in goal for the Gunners for Sunday’s game.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could put out the same defence as the game against Manchester City with David Luiz and Gabriel starting at the heart of the defence, while Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney occupy the full-back positions. Mustafi, Cédric Soares, Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are other options at the back for the Gunners.
Thomas Partey had an impressive game against Rapid Vienna and he could be in contention for his first Premier League start. Dani Ceballos’ knock may force Arteta to introduce the former Atletico Madrid man sooner than planned. He should play alongside Granit Xhaka in midfield.
Bukayo Saka should retain his place as the left-sided midfielder for the Gunners. Mohamed Elneny and Joe Willock are other options for Arteta in the middle of the park.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should continue on Arsenal’s left with Nicolas Pepe should start on the opposite side. Willian’s knock means that either Alexandre Lacazette or Eddie Nketiah could get a start through the middle. Arteta could choose the young striker over the Frenchman for this game, as his pace could be a threat to Leicester’s backline.
