West Brom Linked With Move For Experienced English Striker: Decent Option For Bilic

Back in the top-flight this season, West Bromwich Albion will be desperate to add some quality to their ranks this summer and the latest player on their radar is Watford star, Andre Gray.

The Daily Mail claims that Slaven Bilic is in search of a goal scorer and sees the Watford star as a decent option for his side.

Andre Gray, who wants to move back to the Premier League, could be snapped up on a loan but is he the right man for the Baggies?

Andre Gray And His Numbers

The 29-year-old started his senior career in England back in 2009 with Shrewsbury Town and only moved to the Premier League with Burnley in 2016.

He registered nine goals and three assists in 26 league starts in his only season at Turf Moor and was snapped up by Watford in 2017. But these numbers remain his best return in an English top-flight season.

In his time with the Hornets, he managed 16 goals and seven assists in 94 Premier League appearances as he gradually lost his place in the first team. He made just seven league starts, registering just two goals in the whole season and failed to help Watford retain their top-flight status.

At 29, he does have the experience to be effective for West Brom and could be a decent coup this summer.

His Role At West Brom

Andre Gray is a decent striker, who can be effective playing around creative players. He can run the lines, can play on the shoulder of the last defender and act as a target man effectively.

His speed, balance and technique make him a decent dribbler while his composure in front of goal makes him a hard man to stop when in form.

The Watford man can play as a support striker, can also be effective on the wing and is a versatile presence that will be of huge help for Bilic next season.

The Baggies had Hal Robson-Kanu and Charlie Austin as their top goal scorers last season but both players got just 10 goals apiece and Bilic needs a more prolific goal scorer to lead the line for his side in the Premier League next season or at least someone who can chip in with a few important strikes over the course of the season.

West Brom have managed to retain the services of Grady Diangana and Matheus Pereira, who are sure to add creativity to the side.

Reports also suggest that Sheffield United’s Callum Robinson has completed a move to Hawthorns today. So Bilic is doing well to address the lack of goals in his side and Gray, as a versatile squad option, makes a lot of sense for the newly-promoted side.

His experience and quality could make a real difference for West Brom next season but do you think he is the right man for the club?
