Two New Signings To Start: 4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup vs Everton

Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur begin their 2020-21 Premier League season with a home game against Everton on Sunday. The north London side have played four pre-season games, winning the first three, and losing the last one against Watford.

Spurs will come up against an Everton side that has a few new star names, although we’re not sure if all of their signings will start. Spurs, themselves, have been quite active in the transfer market, but they have signed experienced and established players for bargain fees.

Let’s take a look at the predicted Tottenham lineup for the game against Everton.

Team News

Japhet Tanganga will miss a couple of weeks of action because of a tendon injury. Harry Winks is a doubt having played just 71 minutes of pre-season football three weeks ago.

Giovani lo Celso is also struggling with a hamstring problem and will be assessed before the game.

PREDICTED TOTTENHAM LINEUP vs EVERTON (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper

Spurs captain Hugo Lloris has competition this season from former Manchester City keeper Joe Hart. Hart has featured heavily over the pre-season but is clearly below Lloris in the pecking order.

Defence

Jose Mourinho has used England international Eric Dier as a centre-back, and it will be interesting to see if Dier starts against Everton. We could see him start alongside the experienced Toby Alderweireld in the Tottenham lineup, while Davinson Sanchez is an option too.

Ben Davies is nailed on at left-back, while Serge Aurier could also be handed a surprise start given that Matt Doherty hasn’t featured for his new team yet. But the former Wolves star is match-fit and Jose could well throw him in the deep end against a strong Everton side.

Midfield

Tanguy Ndombele played in Spurs’ last friendly, his only appearance in pre-season. But, that may have only been because several players were on international duty. It’s unlikely that the Frenchman will play any part in Spurs’ match against Everton.

If Winks is fit, he should start alongside new signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. But there are question marks over Winks’ and Lo Celso’s fitness which could see the versatile Moussa Sissoko handed a start in the double pivot.

Dele Alli should play in the No. 10 role in the Tottenham lineup.

Attack

Harry Kane will lead the Tottenham lineup on Sunday, flanked by wingers Son Heung-min and one of Steven Bergwijn or Lucas Moura.

Moura has been slightly ahead in the pecking order post-lockdown and could start. Erik Lamela and Ryan Sessegnon are further options for Jose to call upon.
