Leeds United Asked To Pay £30m For Attacking Ace: His Numbers And How He Will Fit In

Marcelo Bielsa’s transfer requirements will be key to Leeds United’s chances in the top flight next season, and one player the newly-promoted side are interested in signing is Liverpool attacker Harry Wilson.

The Sun claim that Leeds United see Wilson as a first-team prospect next season, but may struggle to meet the Reds’ asking price of around £30million.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also showing interest, but is Wilson the right man for Leeds?

Wilson and his numbers

Having spent the last season on loan at Vitality Stadium, Wilson registered seven goals in 20 league starts. He was the second-highest goal-getter at Bournemouth, and had the best minute to goal ratio at a club that struggled to beat relegation in the second half of the season.

The Liverpool man showed his prowess with free-kicks, and was effective from outside the box but his build-up play and off the ball movement left a lot to be desired and eventually his playing time reduce after the restart.

Wilson has already spent four seasons on loan as a Liverpool player but at 23, he will want some regular games under his belt and playing under a coach like Bielsa could be an attractive option for the Welsh international.

Where Does Harry Wilson Fit In?

Ezgjan Alioski and Pablo Hernandez were also used in the wide roles, but Bielsa’s preferred 4-1-4-1 formation paves way for a more attacking winger and Wilson could do a decent job in this role.

Wilson was used on the right side of a 4-4-2 system under Eddie Howe last season but with more cover in the midfield, the youngster can be more adventurous in attack, giving him a chance to express himself.

Costa, who signed a permanent deal with Leeds recently, registered four goals and four assists last season on the right flank, but Wilson adds a different dimension to the Leeds attack and will make them more dangerous, moving into the Premier League.

Wilson stands as the youngest ever Welsh international and has a lot of experience at a young age. Klopp still deems him an asset for his squad at Liverpool but lack of first-team chances could tempt Wilson to move to Elland Road.

However, with more than a couple of years left on his current deal, Liverpool still hold the upper hand in the negotiations, so this deal could depend on how badly Bielsa wants Wilson in his side next season.
