Everton Plotting A £10m Move For Manchester United Ace: A Good Option For Ancelotti?

Everton are reportedly eyeing a move for Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot to boost their defence.

Dalot has fallen behind in the pecking order with the trio of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Brandon Williams ahead of him.

Manchester United are keen to raise funds by selling some of their fringe players, and Dalot, who made just one start in the Premier League last season, could be on the move.

Everton, who need more depth in their backline, are looking to sign the full-back for a fee of £10million as per Mirror.

Dalot signed for Manchester United in the summer of 2018 for a reported transfer fee of £19.3million from FC Porto under former manager Jose Mourinho.

Diogo Dalot to Everton – A good option for Ancelotti?

Dalot is a versatile player who can operate as a right-back, right wing-back as well as a left-back, which would be a handy asset for Everton. He has the pace to burn and can make quick attacking or defensive transitions.

The Portuguese is an accomplished player with the ball at his feet, and his crossing is one of his biggest strengthens in the attacking areas. Dalot is also good at moving up the pitch on the flanks, and that could hold him in good stead under Carlo Ancelotti if he does move.

The 21-year-old’s physical allows him to get the better of most attackers when it comes to aerial duels, and that could help Everton defensively.

Dalot has managed 2 tackles and 2.3 clearances a game in the Europa League, the competition where he has seen more starts than the domestic league.

Despite his abilities, it is pretty obvious that he is far from a finished product, and needs to be more consistent to progress further.

Everton could benefit by signing Dalot as the full-back is one of the areas of concern for Ancelotti. Leighton Baines has hung up his boots, and Seamus Coleman is in the twilight of his career, so Dalot could be a long-term solution for them.

However, Dalot is likely to face stiff competition for a place in the starting lineup even at Everton. Whenever he receives opportunities, he needs to impress the manager or he risks stagnation at Everton, something he is currently facing at Old Trafford.
