Aston Villa Hoping To Sign Attacking Ace For £22.5m: What Will He Add To The Team?

Aston Villa continue to be linked with a move for Werder Bremen attacker Milot Rashica, and even matched German club’s asking price of £22.5 million as per reports, but there has been no movement yet.

As per Birmingham Mail, Rashica wants to play Champions League football, and is waiting for RB Leipzig to match Bremen’s asking price.

Rashica started his first pre-season game for Werder Bremen against Austria Lestenau, and enjoyed a brief 15-minute spell before being taken off as a precaution on Monday.

Considering the player isn’t clamouring to leave the club, it remains to be seen if Villa will get their man. The club have not taken their bid off the table yet, so they are still hopeful of signing the Kosovo international.

Milot Rashica to Aston Villa – What will he add to the team?

It was some season for Werder Bremen, who like Aston Villa, had a relegation skirmish. The German side prevailed in the relegation playoffs, and perhaps have Rashica to thank for their top-flight status.

The 24-year old almost single-handedly kept them up, by scoring eight goals and managing seven assists. He had a hand in more than a third of all goals Bremen scored, and is perhaps one of the best versatile players in the German top-flight.

Rashica has the ability to play anywhere in attack, but his best displays came as a left-winger, a position from where he managed four goals and three assists.

A technically proficient attacker, Rashica’s close control and ability to dribble past players often caught the eye last season on the Bundesliga. The 24-year old was fouled quite a lot last season, something Aston Villa attacker Jack Grealish suffered himself. Both players are of the same ilk, and can make things happen in the final third with their creativity and passing ability.

Rashica would be an upgrade on the wingers Villa currently have in their squad, and a potential partnership with Jack Grealish would be pretty mouth-watering, so you can see why the club are keen on signing him.

Grealish’s future isn’t clear yet, so if he leaves, Rashica could be a good replacement for him as well, considering he has done well in the attacking midfield role.
