4 Premier League Records Liverpool Can Still Break This Season

Liverpool have had a dominant Premier League season, starting off where they left off at the end of the 2018-19 campaign, and finally winning the league to end their 30-year wait.

The Reds have broken numerous records in the process; they broke the record for most consecutive wins and most consecutive home wins, as well as defeating every team in the league at least once.

Liverpool are not done yet. There are still a few records that Jürgen Klopp’s side could break by the end of this season.

Record Liverpool can still break this season

#1 Most points in a single season (Manchester City – 100 points)

Manchester City currently hold the record for most points in a season, which they achieved in the 2017-18 season. The Reds can break that record as they are currently on 93 points with three games to spare.

If they win all three games, they will reach 102 points on the table. A draw and two wins will see them match City’s record.

#2 Most wins in a single season (Manchester City – 32 wins)

Liverpool are also on course to break City’s record of most wins in a single season. The Reds have won 30 times in the season and need to win their last three games to beat Manchester City’s record.

#3 Least home defeats in a season

If Liverpool go undefeated at home in their remaining match against Chelsea at Anfield, they will have done so for the fourth time in the Premier League history – a record they share with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham.

#4 Title-winning points margin

Manchester City currently hold the record for the highest title-winning margin, which they achieved in the 2017-18 season, when they had a gap of 19 points between themselves and Manchester United.

City could lose that record as things stand. Liverpool have a whopping 21-point lead over the Sky Blues, and need to match City’s results in the remaining three games to set a new record. That’s easier said than done though as they will face Arsenal and Chelsea in two of the remaining three games.
